A modern orthodox church in Belgrade
Nov 2019 • Solo
Church of St. Alexander Nevsky is located in Belgrade, the main city in Serbia. It is an orthodox church, which was built at the end of 19th Century, and it was finished in 1929. It is dedicated to the medieval Russian Prince due to the help of Russian Army in Serbian-Ottoman War in 1870's. It is austere and you can enter and walk around the building. Ok.

Colorful frescoes decorate inside of Serbian Orthodox church. Standing right below chandelier provides grand ceiling view. Art work is nice.

Real tranquility

Gorgeous interior. Well lit, with stunning decoration. So much more appealing than the dark, cavernous St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia.

Interesting story
Apr 2018 • Couples
A nice church that has an interesting story. The current church was built on the site where a mobile military chapel (dedicated to the saint) stood left behind by Russian volunteer forces during the Serbian-Ottoman War of 1876–77. Awesome story as told by our tour guide The church is worth a visit for the historical value alone.

My favourite Church

I first visited this Church in 2014 where street musicians outside were playing and added to the charm , and for me - a relaxed atmosphere and happy spirit of this church. I really love this church !

We ate on Skadarska street so we were just a couple of blocks away from this very beautiful church. If you are in the area, or are interested in churches and architecture, then I would recommend seeing this worthwhile sidetrip.

Lovely

This was our first Orthodox Church to view. Today seems to be a national wedding day. We kept running into beautiful brides walking around the area. We were fortunate that a wedding was going on as we viewed the church and listen to the incredible chant music. The ceilings are painted beautifully as are the main and side alters

If you haven't been into an Orthodox Church, this is a good introduction. The ceilings are impressive with paintings of Jesus in vivid colours
