A Russian river cruise is a quirky sort of holiday. But we had such a good time, I would urge you to give it a try. The boat is well-appointed. Beds in the cabins are hard – not to everyone's taste – and rather narrow. There is plenty to do, if you are prepared to join in. We were offered... More

Had the privilege of seeing river volga in three cities in a week... Nizni novogard, yarosalvl and Ulyanovsk..such a wide river.... Beautiful with fantastic staircase to go down at Nizhni, beautiful resturant at Yaroslavi and splitting the city of Ulyanovsk in to two. The embankment in Ulyanovsk is also very nice to walk around with good fountains etc. Love river... More

It's a great hour long river trip for a hot summer day. Take a river tram from Yaroslavl river port to Tolga Monastery. After enjoying historical place you can come back to the center of Yarolavl the same way or take a bus. It's a very simple soviet style boat tour, and a nice out door activity either for family,... A lovely walk along the Volga in Yaroslavl, just where the park meets the embankment. In the park there's a little 'theme park' for younger kids and many walkways, seating etc. I think the children of Russia are spoilt for choice when it comes to amusements, as the parks have everything! Back to the Volga...there are large boats moored- restaurant... More

We had exceptional service from the time we booked our cruise, till the end. We returned home last week and are still talking about the wonderful time we had on our trip to Russia. You have to experience how detailed and service orientated the trip was organized. Hotels were exceptional, the Volga Dream was beyond our expectations. The food was... More

We took the river-cruise VOLGA DREAM from St Petersburg to Moscow on a 7 voyage through rural Russia. We had very interesting visits to small and medium size cities. Service on the ship was great, food excellent and activities between the visits more than entertaining. This was a great trip.

It is difficult to find fault with the Volga River cruises. The entire trip to Russia was so interesting, informative, and educational. As a child of the 60s I got a lot of propaganda about the "Red Menace". Today's newspapers continue that negative image. Nothing could be further from the truth. Communism died in 1992. Moscow is an exciting vibrant... More

My review will be short because it could be almost word-for-word identical to that of RecaLondon's review for Sept of 2013. Same ship, same experience, with only a few differences: we booked thru TravelAllRussia, based in St Petersburg, Moscow and Washington DC. Our agent there, Anna was excellent. My mother and I originally booked for May of 2012. Six months... More

More than 2300 miles long, the Volga is a source of power, commercial transportation and pride for southeastern Russia. In places it is more than a mile wide, and it may freeze in winter. I have seen it in an up-close and personal way as it passes east of Saratov, between Saratov and Engels, There are many lovely dachas along... More

Went on this trip with GO RUSSIA who are based in London. The ship was one operated by a Russian company VODOHOD who have many ships travelling the waterways. I was on the MS Nicolay Chernishevsky. It is a basic ship with very small cabins. As one contributor has mentioned I am not sure how tall people cope as the... More
