This is a fantastic way to discover the modern history of Bucharest . Emma our guide was a very articulate and intelligent young woman who used personal family stories to illustrate life under the Ceausescu.The brutality of this regime is told through the voice of youth with hope and positivity .Thank you Emma

My wife and I are grateful that we scheduled this tour during our visit to Bucharest. Our guide Emma was excellent, not only providing insight into what life must have been like during the Communist regime, but also effectively putting it into perspective against the remarkable history of Romania.

I have visited Romania in the begin of April and I had the beautiful weather in Bucharest. I decided to book the tour Ashes of Communism . My guide is Emma , a talented nice guide. She has a very good skills about her city and she gave me a lot of informations about history of Bucharest under communism. Thanks Emma

The highlight of our trip to Bucharest was a day trip to Transylvania with Mihai from Unveil Romania. We visited Peles Castle, Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress, and Brasnov old town. Mihai knows all of the best photo spots and patiently took photos of my husband and I. Mihai's knowledge and enthusiasm made the day one we will never forget. We voted him best tour guide ever! Thank you, Mihai for sharing your beautiful country with us.

Thank you for the appreciation Sandra! I remember our tour together - it was a really special day, with a customized itinerary and some great conversations. Aside from discussing a lot about local attractions and Romania in general, I remember the great tips you gave me on personal development as an entrepreneur. Visited late September 2018 but just found that my original review wasn't listed on the Viator site I booked it through.
This was a brilliant tour from start to finish.
Mihai was our guide. He was brilliant. His knowledge of Romania is amazing.
We were picked up on time. We visited Peles Palas, Bran Castle and then Brasov.
I can highly recommend this tour. I'd do it again without any hesitation.

Thank you Ian for this review! It's a shame that your first review on Viator never got through (since they are also part of TripAdvisor) but the good thing is that at least here reviews seem to work fine. It's fantastic that you took the time to rewrite this review, after such a long time. I'm happy that I had the chance to be your guide and that we still keep in touch. Best regards to you and your family and when I'll come to Wales it would be great if we can meet for a coffee.

I am not very keen on TripAdvisor reviews but our tour guide, Mihai deserves to be recognised and appreciated by everyone who wants to visit Romania and have an unforgettable experience. This young man is knowledgeable, kind and has a personality of an angel. He made sure we are comfortable and was answering all of our rather silly questions with a great big smile on his face. He was truly passionate about his country and made us love this place as much as he loves it himself. We felt like he is a part of our family, nice, enthusiastic and oh so so funny. We were heartbroken that we have to say goodbye to him as we do truly love Mihai. The trip was one the best we've had in years and we would pay twice as much to do it again with Mihai and him only. We wish you luck and hopefully you will marry your beautiful and fantastic lady Olivia as you deserve the best in the world. It is personal now but this is what the experience is - private, personal, feels almost like visiting an old friend. Good luck for the future my friend. You are welcome to visit us in England anytime you want, you're a part of the family now. You will be missed my friend. Good luck for the future.

Did a great day trip to Peles Palace, Bran Castle and Brasov. Mihai explained everything very well, knew many amazing photos spots to get the best shots from, and did his best to make sure the trip was wonderful. He is a very interesting person to tour with and we had a lot of great conversations on the road. I’m looking forward to going back to Romania again. Will definitely book with Mihai whenever I do go back.

We came to Bucharest two days ago knowing virtually nothing about the city. After taking the Ashes of Communism walking tour, we have a good understanding of how the city evolved, the conditions that existed before the Revolution in 1989, and how life in the city exists now. The tour included visits to a wide variety of buildings of the city but the focus of the tour was usually on how residents' lives were affected by the organizations that used the buildings. Our guide was very personable and knowledgeable. We appreciated that he was willing to adjust the tour to our interests and to share his views on how Romania is responding to life after the Revolution. We enjoyed the tour very much.

Hello! For the full day tour, I presume you refer to our "Taste of Transylvania" Day Trip from Bucharest. The tour starts at 8 AM (your private guide picks you up from your hotel reception). The tour ends at 8-9PM, depending on traffic. You can find all these details on our TripAdvisor page description of the tour. The tour can be booked directly from our TripAdvisor page.
