Four friends and I just returned from an amazing trip from Budapest to Bucharest This was a quickly planned trip with the original plan to experience the Christmas markets. A friend fortunately found a highly recommended company, Covinnus Travels, that offered the perfect itinerary for us and we could do it as a small private group. From the very beginning the company owner, Daniel Gheorghita, was awesome. He made the reservation easy, arranged the perfect tour around our interests and timeframes and patiently answered all our questions. We contacted Daniel late October and met him at the Budapest airport on December 4. This was the fastest trip scheduled I've experienced. He made it all so easy.
We visited 11 cities with Christmas markets in most of them. While the markets exceeded our expectations, the tours of Hungary and Romania, and being immersed in the history, politics and culture was a very special experience and my favorite part of the trip because Daniel was so knowledgeable, honest, accommodating and desirous of our having the broadest experiences possible, including dining and shopping. He was with us breakfast through dinner each day, again patiently answering all of our questions. He even added a couple of side stops at no extra cost and at the expense of longer days for him to accommodate our interests. Daniel is also a professional photographer and he took pictures that captured the beauty of both countries in a way that we couldn't have done, and he used his drone to photograph such sights as the Carpathian Mountains and freely shared all photos with us. While I highly recommend this trip, Daniel tailors trips to individual needs and he's willing to accommodate.

We were looking for a tour that included Bran and Peles Castles in Transilvania, as well as some painted churches in Bucovina but couldn't find that combination. We were referred to Daniel and he was willing to take us to all those places. We had a wonderful time and got to see some beautiful sites of Romania. We wished to have had more time. Daniel is very knowledgeable about many topics, we had nice conversations about different aspects of the country and the places we visited. The van was very comfortable, something important when you spend so many hours in a car. Daniel is also a great driver, we never felt unsafe with him. He was flexible and accommodating to our needs. We highly recommend him as a tour guide, he is kind and thoughtful and was always willing to help in anything we needed (for instance, the Covid test required to travel back home). He is also a very good photographer and took some very nice pictures with his drone. If we ever go back to Romania we will definitely travel with him.

Stop wasting time looking and book the best! We had an amazing 5 day private Transylvania tour with Covinnus. They made us feel more like special guests than customers.
Key Points:
* Communication with Covinnus was EASY and quick.
* Whether you want the standard info or you want to engage in a deeper dialogue on the history and significance of the sights you are visiting, Covinnus will not disappoint
* Spot on recommendations for food and things to do in your free time.
Even before the trip, email responses were very quick and they very kindly helped us with new COVID forms required for entry into Romania while we were en-route.
You will get all the history you could want from the very knowledgeable tour guides. We are the type of people that like to dig deeper and get a better understanding of the context around what happened and our guide was happy to dig into deeper conversation with us. We came away with a much better understanding and appreciation through this dialogue. Our guide paid attention to what we were interested in and made a point to include or emphasize the points he knew we would be most interested in. Our guide even paid attention to the kind of food we were enjoying and every single restaurant and food recommendation made was spot on for us. This is personalization at its finest!
A final very cool thing is that our guide was also an accomplished photographer and more than happy to take photos for us - all of those are amazing!
The only thing that could have made this better - we should have booked a longer tour so that we could have spent more time in the beautiful Transylvania towns with Covinnus!

In July 2022 we had the pleasure of taking a guided tour by Covinnus Travel of Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary. Daniel, our tour guide for the two week adventure, was superb. He was entertaining as well as very knowledgeable of the history of all three countries. We were able to travel at our own pace without having to meet any preset schedule. We would certainly recommend Covinnus Travel and Daniel for any one interested in touring Eastern Europe. We will use their services again should we travel in their area.

Covinnus was quick in responding to the private itinerary; and also quick in refunding the trip that didn't push through due to COVID. They were the first to send the refund, 2 days after cancellation!
I'm still waiting for refunds for 2 accomodations from Hotels.com and one round trip from Flightnetwork. No communications were received from Hotels.com Gold at all.

Towns and Villages of Transylvania Tour with our guide Daniel Gheorghita.
We were met at the airport by Daniel and we spent four days with him as our personal guide. He made sure that we saw all the important and significant towns, churches and castles with all the myths of Dracula! Daniel gave us the historical importance of each and because it was just the two of us he was able to customize our experience by taking us on side trips that are not normally included. These enabled us to see more of the countryside and get a true feel for the people of Romania and their culture. We would highly recommend hiring Daniel and his partner Valentina if you are considering a trip to Romania.
We would also suggest that you do some walking and light hiking prior to your visit and that you invest in a decent camera as there are photo ops on every corner!

My friends and I went on the Christmas Markets of Eastern Europe Tour- 9 days. The trip was fabulous from start to finish. Daniel made our experience wonderful. The booking process was easy and Daniel answered any question we had in a timely manner. It was very reasonably priced and the hotels were conveniently located and had 4 star ratings. It was a private, cultural tour that included 5 Christmas markets.
Daniel taught us so much history of Hungary and Romania. There wasn't a question he couldn't answer.
I highly recommend this tour.

We had a private tour thru Romania seeing the cultural things and getting some great hikes in the Carpathain mountains and countryside. Daniel far exceeded our expectations for the trip by showing us the wonders of his country. I can not give a high enough recommendation for Covinnus Travel and do yourself a favor and go to Romania and do it with Covinnus!

Covinnus Travel was awesome! I learned so much from our guide, Daniel and I would highly recommend him as your guide if you travel to Romania. If I had arranged the visit to Transylvania on my own without a travel guide, I would have regretted it. Daniel was informative and very welcoming. I recommend to go in the off season because there will be a smaller group. We were fortunate enough to have just three of us tourists and Daniel as our guide. Request him -- he is great and this company is fantastic! I will look them up if I plan to return to Romania in the future

Thank you Daniel for an excellent tour. Very informative; full of knowledge and interesting stories. Punctual, showed us all of the key sights and more, recommended and booked us into a great restaurant and went out of his way to show and tell us about the true Romania. We are inspired to come back and see more of Romania and surrounding countries and we will definitely contact Daniel at Covinnus if/when we do.
