About
Palatul Vechiturilor is an innovative second hand retail concept. Palatul Vechiturilor is an idea based on a mixture between the atmosphere of a second hand store and the diversity of a flea market. If you are looking for pieces of communist era nostalgia, collectibles and antiques, then you are in the right place.

Time traveling spot. Here you can spend a full day searching through music, vinyls, books, decorations and totally unexpectable 70's/80's/90's comunist style items and things from all over the world. And if you're not sure why'd you stop here, the people working there are always nice to you and want to help. Soo if your plans for the future involve traveling to the past, stop by.

The place is opened daily, even on Saturday. You can find a lot of old things made from Bronze, china (porcelain), old books, posters, coasters, antiques, fine art, art albums, vintage cameras, clocks, old turn-tables and a lot of records.
There is also a second address, on Regina Elisabeta no.3, near the University Square (Piata Universitatii), with the same owner. This place is smaller, but it has also a little mezzanine, with a lot of records (romanian music too) and all kind of miniatures.

The idea of this shop is more than great because as a Romanian you can find many items that built your past. I was dissapointed to see that genuine old, vintage and antiques are put together with new Made in china stuff. The owner should change that instantly because who enters there is looking for old, not new bad quality. Many items are way too overpriced comparing with Romanian specialized sites as okazii or olx where you can find many common items at smaller prices. The seller, a girl, is not so good at communication, never smiles and looks disturbed when you ask questions. The other seller, a man, does not smile to customers, and is not very communicative. Overall, is a great idea with great potential, but it needs a better customer service experience. My feedback is based on 3 visits of at least half an hour each, on different days of months. I will go back in the future to see if things changed.

It is a marvellous place where you can find surprising things. A typewriter caught my attention, but I didn't manage to get it. But the owner proved very helpfull and in a few days he found the yellow beauty I got. Really nice!

As I outlined in the title, paying a visit to Palatul Vechiturilor (Vintage Items Palace) is a rather overwhelming experience, very near to what one imagines time travel could be. If you are passionate about history, vintage stuff or simply are curious about what the Communist era felt like by living for a few minutes amongst objects that witnessed it, take a few minutes and stop by Palatul Vechiturilor. You will most probably leave with some nice memorabilia and most certainly with lots of nice memories. :) Totally recommend it!
