Wonderful place, wonderful music, nice people!

The Romanian Opera House is an amazing building from an architectural standpoint and houses performances of both opera and ballet.

Was trying to get a good look at this Opera house ( as most around the world are magnificent) but there was a large barricade around it. The dome type roof looked good tho

As there were no shows scheduled during our visit, we were hoping to at least admire the building from inside. Unfortunately, no tours are available inside (unless you bribe the guard, which we were not willing to do). So, we walked around the building to find out it is sort of neglected and not that impressive, after all. Too bad.... More

Contemporary dance we saw was of a very high standard. Prices are very economical - 55 lei for 4th row stalls. Book on line and take image of ticket pdf on your phone to get in. Beautiful classical interior

Saw Cosi Fan Tutte. Attended during the week when many seats were unsold. Went for the most expensive seats at around £28 and had a private box for just the two of us. The most expensive seats also include interval champagne served in a private room. The production seemed professional although the sets were more of the 'budget' variety and... More

From outside it is not so much attractive, but inside is very nice. It is small and compact, and they have very good performances.

Last I saw Alina Cojocaru dancing was some years ago at the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden in London and I queued for several hours for a seat the day of the performance, Evgenij Onegin. It was a magical event. In Bucharest last March, I could only catch the Oedipe performance but no ballet: I hoped though that on my... More

The interior is a very curious one, with two floors of loges. I genuinely enjoyed the Manon ballet, and will definitely come again. Prices are quite affordable if you compare with other countries: you can buy a ticket for as few as 25 RON = 4,5 EUR (or sometimes 10 RON if you're not picky).

Pick a classic and go watch a ballet! You can relax with perfectly made cappuccinos or a glass of champagne during the breaks and, depending on the show you choose , they have a great orchestra playing. We say "La fille mal gardee" and I full heartedly recommend it. Also, dress up! You don't have to but it's too much... More

Excellent production of La Traviata in Bucharest. Both set and performance were of international standard. Another reason to be in Romania.
