Lovely park for walking, riding a bike (there is even a place you can rent one, if you don't own a bike), skateboard, hanging out with your friends and family. Suitable for families with children.

I recommend this park for short or long walks, for jogging and running. It has around 6km of pathway aside the river and it's full of nice trees and places. You can even see squirrels in there.

One of the largest parks in Bucharest, peaceful and good for long walks and photo-shoots if you are looking for a big green area with a lake.

We walked through this huge park to get to Chauchesko Mansion from the Village Museum, and it was impressive, almost deserted. The lake was iced and with the snow and ice I couldn't really enjoy it but I am happy that I got to see...More

It's a park surrounding a big lake. It takes over 2h to walk around the river. Nice dining places can be found on the walk.

It depends on the time of the year. In summer, there are several restaurants with very nice terraces at the lake, or just terrases. I can reccomend Il Locale, Funky Club, Nuba, Biutiful. If winter, you can try La Brasserie... More

If you eneter the park by the Arch you have to go right forward up to the artesian-well. Here you have two possibilities: 1. From this place, if you go on the left and pass the bridge, you'll arrive to the Island of... More

Bucharest:: eating and moving around (4 Replies)
Can anyone suggest restaurants or coffee shops close to Marriott Hotel for affordable breakfasts and dinners? Our tour includes room but not meals at this hotel. Also information about public transport to the centre of Bucharest and to the National Village Museum, Museam of Romanian Peasant and Herastrau Park would be appreciated. Is it possible to pick up a metro/bus map? Thank you all in advance.

Try this www.carucubere.ro, it's not to far from Izvor, in the oldest part of the city. I saw you have already the maps and details about the city...good luck and have fun:)

2 days in Bucharest, looking for places to go & tours (5 Replies)
I am going to be in Bucharest for two days before the start of my tour this month (Oct). I have decided I want to see the old town and Herastrau Park - what's the best way to get between the two? Is it walkable? What else should I include on my list to see? I really wanted to join a group tour of the city but I keep running into companies that do private tours only and it's just me - does anyone have any group tour recommendations for this city? Thanks.

As some others metioned here and on various other pages: the "free tours" of Bucharest are given by young students. While we all agree they are enthusiastic, the quality of the information, the level of their English proficiency and above all, ability to make themselves understood in English, does vary quite a bit. We all know a walking tour in the Old Town plus the Revolution Square is not really a solid city tour as it misses major parts and attractions. So for the ones that want a real...More
