I used to be a student at a university nearby and Herăstrău park was one of my favorite places to visit.
Lots of alleys where to go on bicicle, restaurants to eat (quite expensive though), even a place where to get a boat on the lake (not sure if they did actually opened it, back when i was student it was not functional).
It is allways clean.
There are benches to sit on everywhere.
I especially recommend everyone to make a trip all around the lake, it is a long walk that can take half an hour or more, depending on your speed but it is worth for the views.
In may 2021 i visited again and things have gone better somewhat, with more vendors open and with much less people (probably it was due to the pandemic and due to the fact thqt most people work during the week...in weekend most likely it is crowded).
You have many means of transportation to everywhere you would need in the city and from anywhere. Not sure about the metro , but bus, tram and taxi you can find at any street corner.
There are museums very close so one can see more then one objective in one go, plus the Arc of Triumph (Arcul de Triumf).
I also recommend a trip alongside Kiseleff Road to see the Palace of Free Press.
For me, it is deffinetly a 5/5 stars.

The biggest park in Bucharest and one of the most beautiful. For some time now, the authorities have changed his name to King Mihai Park. But people still know him as Herastrau. It's very big, you need a few hours to make a complete tour of the park. There are a lot of alleys shaded by very old trees, from place to place there are terraces hidden by the green thicket, where you can stop for a drink. There are playgrounds for children, a large lake, where you can go by little ships or by boat, some restaurants (expensive, most of them). There's even a small japanese garden, unfortunately not very well maintained.

The best of all was to find the same amazing views as I remembered from my childhood. Since then, the park is some forty years older, however, as beautiful as ever. A walk around the lake can take about two hours, especially if one adds a few stops for coffee, lunch, or a drink at one of the pleasant restaurants along the way.
Herastrau remains a wonderful open space to enjoy the day with kids, with someone dear, or simply by yourself, away from the bustling city.

This is one of the nicest parks me and friends have ever visited. While being very close to the arch (can do this first), I would recommend getting electric scooters (lime or bolt) to explore the park, as it lets you cover big distances in fast time. A real must visit if you are here.

I really loved this park, it's situated in the nord part of the city, not very close to the center but well connected by public transports. Inside the park there's a lake and many places that sell food and beverages. It's perfect to have a walk in total relax outside the hectic capital!

I'm not exactly writing this as a traveler since this is simply the biggest park in my city, but it stands out enough that I feel it deserves a review anyway. It's huge, gorgeous outside of winter (the view across the lake, especially at sunset, is marvelous) and it offers a nice escape from the mess that is regular old Bucharest.

I've been doing a lap of the lake at least once a week for the last 6 months (it's about 7km so it should take you an hour or two) and it still hasn't gotten any less soothing and relaxing. It's also one of the few places in the city that's genuinely really safe at night thanks to the patrolling guards - just keep in mind that there are a few areas of the park that are not lit up.

A very large park with a big lake in it. It's inside the city, yet while travelling there you feel like in a different world.

There are several restaurants, playgrounds, benches to sit and relax in and its nice to just take a stroll around and enjoy it.

Herastrau Park is a beautiful oasis within the city. Lots of varied spaces - dog parks, rose gardens, theatre structures, playgrounds, walking/biking/running trails. Also a selection of restaurants with views over the lake. Would highly recommend a visit. If you are running or walking around the lake at night, there are certain parts of the trail that are not well lit. A flashlight or headlamp would be useful as the path can be a bit uneven in spots.
Add this park to your list of places to visit!

premium things will have been included in the finishes and others, but the location leaves much to be desired - the smell of the Rudeni landfill, Romexpo at 2 steps = concerts, exhibitions, crowding and traffic Constanta bridge two steps away (in terms of pollution and car traffic) in the rest of the area? you barely have sidewalks, let alone parking spaces. a modern, typical crowd, for those who came to Bucharest a month ago and reached some loans for 50 years.
theoretically the respective area is the sanitary protection area, up to Flora and Casa Presei - but those who move will not care - it has nothing if you make your needs from where you drink water.

Even december, it was a nice sunday morning and we felt we need to take a short breath of park walking tour.
We are allways choosing Herastrau becouse is elegant, full of old high trees, we can walk along the lake and then stop at any nice restaurant located on that area.
I recomand you on sunday morning, take your boyfriend, make a short walk along the lake, join the beatifull quiet, romantic moments and after stop for a lunch in that area. Or...just for a coffee and a cake, on the lake street where during the summer are located the main clubs from bucharest.
Even winter, you can find open many elegant resraurants in that area, and you can spend a nice morning weekend sunday , after a romantic walk on the park.
Have fun!
