Carusel bookstore
Dec 2020 • Solo
Cărturești Carusel is a cultural oasis, located in the old town of Bucharest, a quiet, bright hideaway, in a noisy chaotic city.
This lovely bookstore is a place for bibliophiles, highbrows, voracious or occasional readers, simply curious people or laid-back doers who enjoy exploring the world of books, away from the high-decibel symphony of blaring horns and road breakers.
The minute you step inside the three-story bookstore, you notice, the eye catching curved balconies on each of the upper levels and the welcoming teahouse on the top floor that offers a great view of the entire place.
This wonderful, charming spot should definitely be a place of interest for foreign tourists (especially for booklovers!) as many book sections are well-seasoned with books in English and because it's a historical timepiece.
Maybe, sometimes, it's a bit overcrowded and some goods are overpriced due to it's location, but overall it's a book wonderland comparable with famed Livraria Lello (Porto), Hatchards Piccadilly (London), Bertrand Bookstore (Lisbon).

Stunning bookstore
Feb 2020 • Couples
This bookstore is located in the old town of Bucharest. It has quite a big front so you will recognize it immediately. The building is beautiful and the interior is incredible! It has several levels and makes an interesting and pleasant stroll and, no doubt, spectacular photos! Foreign language sections were too small so we didn’t buy anything but we definitely enjoyed looking around. There is a cafe inside on the top floor and many other items for sale except books.

This is how books should be treated. Feels like a cathedral of booklove. Great selections, quirky stuff and just a sigh of words, letters, books

Instagrammers Bookstore in Old City Center
Apr 2019
The most famous bookstore in Bucharest is hosted by a renovated Art Nouveau building, dating back since 1903.
The interior seems to be loved by Instagrammers.
There's a huge selection of books, vinyl's, movies, music, wines, teas, gifts and souvenirs to choose from.
Just like almost everything in the Old City Center, the books are overpriced, as some of them could be found online or could be purchased from other bookstores around the city for 20-30% less. Some other books and vinyl’s are difficult to be found elsewhere. However, here you can buy some really rare jazz albums.
As of the wines, many of them are cheaper at the airport. Anyway, if you need to buy a decent bottle of wine for someone's birthday, Carturesti Carusel is a safe bet.

Poor customer service
Dec 2019 • Couples
Beautiful location but terrible customer service. They should send their employees to a basic customer service training. Almost impossible to get an answer if they have or they don’t have a book, the answer was very rude.

The library from the old city
Nov 2019
I am living in Bucharest, but I visited for two times this library. It's one of the most delightful and lighted place. They have constantly promotions, themes by season or holidays. Even if this library is positionate in the old city where it's a lot o noise, here it's so silence and peace. On the top floor are restaurants with burgers and drinks.
