The most famous bookstore in Bucharest is hosted by a renovated Art Nouveau building, dating back since 1903.
The interior seems to be loved by Instagrammers.
There's a huge selection of books, vinyl's, movies, music, wines, teas, gifts and souvenirs to choose from.
Just like almost everything in the Old City Center, the books are overpriced, as some of them could be found online or could be purchased from other bookstores around the city for 20-30% less. Some other books and vinyl’s are difficult to be found elsewhere. However, here you can buy some really rare jazz albums.
As of the wines, many of them are cheaper at the airport. Anyway, if you need to buy a decent bottle of wine for someone's birthday, Carturesti Carusel is a safe bet.

This bookstore is located in the old town of Bucharest. It has quite a big front so you will recognize it immediately. The building is beautiful and the interior is incredible! It has several levels and makes an interesting and pleasant stroll and, no doubt, spectacular photos! Foreign language sections were too small so we didn’t buy anything but we definitely enjoyed looking around. There is a cafe inside on the top floor and many other items for sale except books.

Lovely bookstore, with a lot of choices on books, games, small gadgets, etc. i always come here when i visit Bucharest.
The cafe they have upstairs needs some serious changes though, first with the attitude of the personnel.

First visit here.
The library is very pretty with awesome interior design. It looks chique while still looking like a bit like something out of a Fairy tale.
There is a large amount of choice and they also got some English books.
There is also merchandise, a small Art exhibition and a café upstairs! Pretty much something for anyone.

Beautiful book store in Bucharest Old Town, clearly a destination for the instagram generation. Lots of visitors taking photographs (us included). Interesting inventory of products beyond the books, spread over 5 floors.

We stumbled across this store and spent over an hour browsing the shelves on the first visit. Enjoyed it so much my colleague and I went twice in the end!
Staff were very helpful (my sister is learning Romanian and I couldn't find the language books). A big selection of English language books too and also sections for Spanish and German and other languages too.
It is a beautiful setting for every bookworm but also offers toys, board games, novelty (but not tacky) gifts, including tea, chocolate, wine etc.

We decided to pop in here to see the architecture as well as what books they had on offer. It is a large store with a range of books written in Romanian and English. Prices were as you'd expect. Downstairs had a good range of boutique and artsy gifts. The actual architecture was very impressive. Worth popping in if you're passing by.

Great bookstore in central Bukarest. Many books in english, also a good selection of merchandise from well known brand names such as Harry Potter and Star Wars can be found on the basemwnt floor with CDs, DVDs and vinyls, Ground floor has many book related trinkets. Very popular. A good selection of educational toys.

This beautiful book store is located in the heart of Bucharest and surrounded by streets filled with many restaurants, coffee shops , shops , hotels and hostels. It’s interior juxtapose a modern and beautifully restored 19th century building.

Accessible, huge bookstore, but I humbly think that the most iconic characteristic is the architecture and not the use or specialty of the business.
Anyhow, you should visit.
