Even though it was said to be open on the internet listing (and we know everything on the internet is true right?) it was closed when I walked to find it. I was interested in Curtea Veche because it really does have a genuine connection with Vlad the Impaler. There are other sites that claim a to be connected with the man known as Dracula but he ruled from this palace so the connection is genuine. I was very disappointed not to be able to see around here but you can see quite a bit from the outside and there is a very photogenic bust of the main man outside which is an ideal photo opportunity.
A tip for fellow travellers. Things can be closed in Romania even though they are listed as open. I got caught out a few times. My advice is to ring and check especially if you are going to incur some expense in travelling to a particular sight in this beautiful but sometimes unpredictable country,

It attracts a lot of attention as the only real link to Vlad that is accessible and it is just part of wandering around the Old Town. Nice bust of him and if you don't arrive at the same time as a walking group you can do a selfie. However there really is no reason for it to be closed. People would be happy to wander closer to the ruins. There seems to be a want to fully restore everything in Bucharest when in fact tourists understand some things will be ruins.

The bust of Vlad Dracula or Vlad the Impaler is here. Ruins of his court is around, which is under restoration. A museum is also under construction here.

There's absolutely no need to spend the mare 1US$ for this museum, as most of the exhibits can be seen from the street (and there're not that many of them to begin with).
The bust of Dracula provides a lovely photo-op, but that's about it.

This is where the beginnings of Bucharest was built and now are the remains of The Old Court near the center of Old Town. You can walk around the remains...there are some interesting pieces.

Take a fantastic underground fortress of Vlad Tepes right in the heart of the Old Town/Lipscani district and do the following:
- Hand it over to the local council to be run
- Do not advertise it or promote it in any way, make it hard to find online
- Have no external signage so no-one would know it's there, and would have trouble getting in even if you were looking for it
- When you get in make sure no-one can find the portacabin (basically some guys office) where you need to pay, until you bump into a security guard who shows you
- Don't put any information in the fortress itself so there's no educational value

In short, if you asked a non-specialist communist-era civil servant to run a tourist attraction, is this exactly what it would be like. The result being no-one seems to visit it.

A massive shame as it's got great potential. It's Dracula's fortress in the middle of Bucharest, and a fantastic building. Making this place such a failure is a huge achievement in itself.

I don't recommend the visit. There is nothing to see, literally nothing. Just some, very few rocks, that they say it was the an old hystoric building. May be, but you can't see much of it.

While small, and mostly consisting of the cellars of the old palace, this place is nonetheless very evocative of old Bucuresti. Not to be missed by anyone with an interest in the history of the place.

In the old city center, there are ruins of the voievodal palace, built in the XIII century. Near there are St. Anthony Church and Hanul lui Manuc traditional restaurant.

The Curtea Veche Museum is situated in the Historic Center of Bucharest, but, unfortunately is not well maintained and presented. There is only an information board outside and one inside. The tunnel can be more interactive to the people, but it's not, you feel just like in a wine cellar, nothing more, nothing less. Outside ther are some remains from the Old Court, but are not maintained and with lack of presentation. The entrance fee is 3 lei for an adult. I reccomend only to stay outside and see the Vlad The Impaler statue inside the yard.
