Close to the city center there is a second hand store - Podium Brand on Nerva Traian street, where you can find a lot of good deals. Cheap branded clothes , shoes and accessories and even new outlet items. Worth visiting!

I visited Bucharest for a week together with my friends for the bachelor party. The experience was great. I found an apartment right in the city center, very close to the Old Town. The day the city passes, the traffic is almost hellish but the people are very hospitable. Although not everyone speaks very good English, they are happy to provide directions and help if you need it. The cops are also extremely kind to tourists. The night in front of the city changes completely. There are a lot of clubs with good music and very beautiful girls. I spent quite well in the clubs in the Historical Center which have quite affordable prices for drinks. If you want premium clubs you can try Nuba but the prices are quite high. A very pleasant surprise in Bucharest is the VIP Obsession erotic massage parlor on 16 Unirii Boulevard where you can find the most delightful masseuses in the city.

New York City, New York35 contributions12 helpful votes
We are a senior couple from New York City now travelling full time. We just spent a week in Bucharest and are looking forward to returning. We read some bad reviews about the city: boring, rude people, nothing to see etc. Our experience was totally different. We booked an apartment through booking.com. The young couple who hosted us were super hosts. They gave us free airport pick up, bought us food and wine, and did their best to make our stay pleasant. We then joined a free walking tour on the history of Bucharest lasting hours. The guide was excellent. We learnt so much about the unique cultural mix in the city as reflected by its remarkably beautiful architecture : Orthodox churches, Turkish inns, Belle Époque buildings everywhere that remind you of Paris, and the grand official buildings from the communist era. We visited several good museums, including the Theodore Aman museum which is a hidden gem. If you like art you can spend at least three, four days without ever feeling bored. Then there is the bustling old town with numerous interesting shops( don’ t miss the chic bookstore Carousel) and restaurants. We enjoyed very good Romanian cuisines at Cafu cu bere( beautiful interiors and music events night& day) as well as the Manuk Inn. There are also many good Italian restaurants to choose from. You can find free open air concerts everywhere. We enjoyed three just walking around: one during the Bucharest Jazz Festival, a classical concert outside the National Theater and a pop/ folk concert near Manuk Inn. Unfortunately there were no concerts at the beautiful concert hall The Romanian Athenaeum. Hence our wish to go back to the city for enjoying some music in the future. During the weekend there is a fountain show at the Unirii square around 9 pm. It was spectacular. We also enjoyed the strolls at the lovely parks and visiting the Village Museums. More importantly, we NEVER encountered any rudeness throughout our stay. On the contrary, people were in general friendly and helpful. They may not smile a lot ( nor do people in New York or other big cities) and can appear a bit stiff. But smiles and greetings will be returned with the same. The level of customer service at restaurants was quite good actually though at times slow( same for many laid-back cities). Our advice: go. It’s an interesting city and very good value-for- money. We are now in Brasov, a lovely town with colorful, cute buildings and cool mountain air. Highly recommended as well.

I took a Tarom flight to Bucharest for a short trip for business purpose. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the stay in the city. Very relaxing and good food in Old City, also a lot of parks (Herastrau) and shopping centers. I strongly recommend to visit Museum Antipa! That's a must for natural history lovers! Cheers!
