Alex was superb! Me and my friend joined the 6PM tour and we were around 10-20 people in the group. It was a fun walking tour with a little re-enactment what the people in Bucharest went though before. Alex was also engaging with all the guests and we also had a question and answer portion / stop which allows the guests to better understand the previous and current situation of the city Thank you Alex five stars for you!!!

Our little group of 8 from around the world did two tours around Bucharest on February 21 - the first about life in communist Romania with Mara, and the second about Bucharest's history with Anca. Despite some serious unexpected requirements (two of our group were deaf and were relying on a live transcription app), both of our tour hosts more than delivered, providing great information about the city in a friendly, descriptive and thoroughly enjoyable format.
Both of the tours were a delight and further confirmation that Walkabout Free Tours know what they're doing and know exactly how to provide a lot of info about the cities in a format that just works.

We did two tours with Alex, and we loved it!
First, we did the History of Bucharest and Alex walked with us through the old town. The group was around 20-30 people. Alex makes the tour super interesting and funny, he will answer all your questions and give you tips for the rest of your stay.
Second, we did the Life in communist Bucharest tour. There was quite some overlap between the two but it was still interesting. If you only have time for one tour then maybe opt for the History of Bucharest first since it gives a more comprehensive overview over the city's history and includes the communist part too. The Life in communist Bucharest tour was relatively new when we did it and Alex is still working out the best way to tell the story and he will be open to your feedback! This tour was a bit less busy and the distances between the locations a little longer so it is great to meet other people and talk some more to the tour guide if you enjoy that.
At the end you can give tips but there is no pressure at all. Definitely a must do!

I took 'The Story of Bucharest' Tour on New Years's Day. It was a great introduction to the city and to 2025. Daniel covered all aspects you can think of - from origins and legends to history, architecture to food. I have learned a lot, especially about the eventful past of the city (and Romania). The experience of discovering its historic center was enhanced by him telling anecdotes and personal stories on past and recent events as well as giving 'insider tips' about locations and recommendations. The whole Tour lasted around 2,5 hours. He also took time to answer all my questions afterwards. I really got a 'feel' for Bucharest. Mulțumesc :-)

Joined The Story of Bucharest tour on Tues 4th June, led by Mara. She was such a great presenter, extremely knowledgeable, funny and great English. It was around 2.5hrs, but felt like it went very quickly as it was so informative and we got to see lots of the city, including all the history behind. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Bucharest who wants to know more about the city (and country) history!

Mara was a brilliant guide! It was really interesting to learn about the history of Bucharest! She showed us all the main sites and told us stories at each one, 100% recommend this tour to anyone just arriving a Bucharest as it gives you a good feel for the city

Great tour lead by Julian. The 2.5h tour in the heat was well organized and included some small breaks and explanations in the shade. Julian made sure everyone was comfortable during the super interesting explanations and was always up for many many questions by the group. A great experience with loads of information. Highy recommend!

Elena was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the city and its past. Her English was perfect and even with a big group of nearly 30 she kept us all together and engaged

We joined the story of Bucharest Tour led by Elena. This was truly the highlight of our visit to the city. Elena provided a fascinating tour that was informative & engaging. Elena was knowledgeable and funny. The tour went by so fast as it was so enjoyable, we did not want it to end. The participants of the tour were of all ages & Elena made it appropriate & accessible by all generations. I couldn’t recommend this tour anymore than I do. We have family visiting soon & I will be booking this tour for them

Walking tour of Bucharest. Guide Alex, incredibly knowledgeable/humorous/engaging..everything you need to satiate your appetite for the history of the city. I have never been on a tour that has kept my interest as much as this one. Alex is a master of his craft, and I would not hesitate to recommend his tours to anyone, the most well spent 3+ hours in Bucharest..could’ve done another 3!!
