About
The best way to understand the Romanian (sub)culture and traditions. Romanian KITSCH is authentic as we are creative, ridiculous and proud in the same time. Seven KITSCH areas presented (basically seven stories) – Kitsch from the Communism period, Dracula Kitsch, Gypsy Kitsch & more. Search for the flag with Ceausescu and when you are standing next to it, look for the rainbow themed museum doors, which are somewhat hidden fom view behind a couple of white umbrellas that belong to the restaurant next door. Very funny experience but real and educational in the same time. It's an interactive experience. You can take pictures inside and you can interact with the exponats.(touch them) Average visiting time: 33 minutes. The museum is located in the city center( in the Old Town), so it’s easy to get inside while you exploring the rest of the city.

Interesting information about how people (used to) live in Romania. Present in very creative ways.

I visited this fun, colourful museum before Covid-19 happened. I highly recommend a visit. The museum is small but filled with very interesting information and objects. I highly recommend a visit.
Greetings from Switzerland.

Had a blast

Great experience. I left the museum with a big smile on my face. I loved how creative they got. The communist kitsch part is really something - I felt as if I went back to my grandma's living room. I'll definitely come back.

What good fun we had! If you can, take a Romanian friend or a guide with you when visiting, so you will better understand what you are seeing. All the objects have a reason they are there, but it's not obvious. Like the "bag of bags" :D We were expecting a very small museum but it is very well structured, split into 7 parts, on two floors. We found many interesting things to look at, the Bruce Lee documentary included, and many memories found us. Great initiative! (PS: Thank you for letting us interact with objects and take pictures)

We had a lot of fun, this museum being one with many surprises. We also loved the fact that it was interactive. Still, it was an educational experience, learning a lot about the Romanian sub-culture. All the information was displayed in an attractive manner, being also easy to keep up with the facts and to understand them.

An incredibly creative idea by 2 young Romanians. Masterfully put together. Offers a unique insight into true Romanian culture that one cannot obtain otherwise.
Every country should have such a museum of their own.
Great for tourists to learn about the depths of a culture. The information one learns here cannot be acquired anywhere else. Brutally honest and free expression!
GREAT for photos, really interactive and connects people.

Best place I ever visited in Bucharest.

The best experience you can have in Bucharest if you want to get in touch with 2000’ Romanian culture.
You will find all the kitschy stuff you can imagine about Romanian interior design, dressing style and many other stereotypes that were as Romanians have.

Everything! It is sooooo authentic 😍. I am born and raised in Romania and everything is exactly as I remember/still own (objects or furniture in my house).

This is an atypical museum, the best part: you can touch anything. It is not big (imagine a house with 4-5 rooms) but has a lot of intresting things. There are seven aspect of kitsch - Dracula, Religious, Communist, Gipsy, Modern, Interior Design, Your kitsch. In Romania, communism ended in 1989. I was born in 1995 but knew almost every thing from communism era. Interior design kitsch was a trip to childhood. Your kitsch -> use clay to create something “kitschy”. Remember old “console”. Well they have one too and you can play Mario. Awesome.
