Since 1812, the Golescu House was located on the site of the current Royal Palace. In 1935 the building was demolished and already in 1937 the New Royal Palace was built. Since 1953, the Art Museum of Romania was opened there.

This attractive looking building now houses an art gallery. I didn't go inside as it was too late in the day to make it worthwhile, but the exterior is quite nice and worthy of a visit by itself. A few other interesting structures in the vicinity further justify a visit to this area.

This royal palace now serves as a gallery and as an art museum.
Entrance fee is minimal and the museum (which I've reviewed separately) is well presented with some beautiful works of art.

The building is huge and impressive. But it is not well maintained and it is a litlle dissapoinitng after seeing other palaces in europe. We took the one hour tour with a guide that was great. I suggest to go and see but do not expect too much.

The building itself is huge and some parts are beautiful. The Europen collection is excellent with Breughel, El Greco, Rembrandt, Cranach and the french impressionists. The Roumanian part is something what we would suggest to everyone. There are painters like, Grigorescu, Pallady, Amman etc they are equal to any of the "big European" names, just beeing Roumanian they are not well known.

Throughout the history, the Royal Palace has went through many extension and renovation works, currently known as one of the most notable neoclassical buildings in Bucharest, also housing the National Museum of Art, a splendid collection of famous paintings and sculptures by many Romanian and world's renown artists.

Been there for couple of hours in order to disconnect from the city agitation. Perfect spot to do it if you’re into art. The building itself is quite impressive, both outside and inside. Very nice collection of art work!

Absolutely stunning building, housing the National Museum of Art of Romania - the Romanian and the European galleries. Definitely worth for the museums, but only admiring the inside of this majestic building is definitely a good enough reason to visit.

I could just imagine how this former palace would have looked like at its glory days! It now houses the European Arts Exhibits and the Romanian Exhibits.

Outside at its front lawn are several beautiful sculptures and benches to rest and relax here.
