Our Remarkable Romanian Adventure

Our group of 4 had a private 3-day tour of Transylvania followed by a morning in Bucharest. We originally booked our tour in 2020, but it was canceled because of COVID. Throughout that time Mihai was so easy to work with that we automatically wanted to book his company for this trip. Because we were coming at a busy time, Mihai was already booked, so he scheduled us with his colleague, Ionut. We could not have asked for a better guide. From the moment he met us at the airport, Ionut was congenial, professional, and sensitive to our needs. He was very easy to talk to, always ready with an informative answer to our many questions about his country and its people. His knowledge of Romanian history was very impressive. His appreciation of and respect for all the cultures represented in his country were evident. Language was never an issue; his English came easily. He was a great driver too. Not having to drive ourselves meant that all 4 of us could enjoy the spectacular views along the way. After we left Bucharest, he served as our driver as we traveled on to Veliko Tărnovo and then to Sofia. By the time we reached Sofia, he was almost like family. We hated to see him go. I would strongly recommend I Travel in Romania as a company and Ionut as a guide. We loved the trip.

Private tour to Romanian castles and excellent village restaurant

Private Tour of Transylvania, Peles Castle, Bran (Dracula’s) Castle, and a traditional Romanian lunch.
Our tour guide, Mihai, was fantastic— knowledgeable, accommodating, flexible, spoke perfect English and a great driver. We had a party of 4 adults. He picked us up on time at our hotel in an impeccably clean van that easily accommodated our group. It was a long day because of the distance we had to drive, but Mihai made the trip as comfortable as possible with frequent stops. Peles Castle was a true work of art inside and out. Mihai thoroughly explained the building construction and architecture, purpose and history of various rooms, as well as the personal details of Romanian royalty. Bran (Dracula’s) Castle was interesting, but primarily a fortress and didn’t compare to Peles Castle. The trip was topped off with a delicious lunch at an “off the beaten path” mountain top village restaurant/inn, Casa Boiereasca, in the small village of Sat Pestera. This was a long day, but Mihai made the trip as comfortable and interesting as absolutely possible.

We are glad to know you have enjoyed the castles but also the lunch at Casa Boiereasca in Pestera village, which is usually very appreciated by our guests being so remote in such a busy area like the one near Bran Castle. Ten days of catered fun and laughs with Mihai

My wife and I took a ten-day private tour with I Travel in Romania and Mihai was our guide. The trip was booked by my brother and highly recommended his company, and he did not disappoint. My brother worked with Mihai on planning everything and many surprises were lined up but one surprise my brother didn't know about was attending a traditional Romanian wedding. That experience was a once in a lifetime experience. That's not all We did but one of the many things that was planned that words can't express being part of. We visited castles, citadels, weavers, churches, a blacksmith, sheep farm, villages, Prince Charles' home, salt mine, train ride, communist prison museum followed by a visit to the Ukraine border and the list goes on. We ate dinner with the locals on a few occasions and the hotels were handpicked to our desires. Mihai found out We are lovers of handcrafted items and even catered things around that along with slowing the pace down for my wife that has some medical conditions. We had fun and felt safe the entire stay. It was also nice to see Mihais love for the cats and dogs as well as his fellow countrymen.

Thank you Steve for the nice words of appreciation. It was a great trip indeed, with a lot of surprises put up by your brother and myself. The traditional Romanian wedding was a great surprise for myself as well, but always glad when it happens (the 3rd one now already). You are lucky to have such a great brother and glad I have toured you and your wife throughout Romania, it was a great tour. Wishing you all the best!

Private 16 day-tour in amazing Romania

Romania is a wonderful country with a wide variety of interesting areas, beautiful mediaeval towns, splendid nature, unspoilt countryside and much more.
We contacted Mihai from Itravelinromania.com . He did a great job by tailoring one of his tours to our needs and interests. It was interesting to talk with him about any subject, from history, culture, politics to daily life in Romania. We really enjoyed his company and guiding skills. We highly recommend his services as a guide or driver/guide as we did, in all areas of Romania.

Hanging out with Mihai

Mihai was wonderful. Not only did we have an awesome trip, but Mihai learned what we liked. We spent 10 days and every day was full of adventure. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. He made us feel very comfortable in beautiful Romania. I felt cared for and catered to. By the end of the trip we were sad to say goodbye to Mihai. He went out of his way to show us things that you normally wouldn’t see. We enjoyed hanging out with the locals, meeting skilled craftsmen and women. We toured castles, we attended a beautiful traditional Romanian wedding, we visited weavers and coppersmiths as well as an iron smith. This is just the tip of the iceberg of everything we did. Mihai was also very accommodating because I have some medical issues there was something I was unable to do so he made sure I was comfortable and safe in an awesome cabin in maramures. It was like a wonderland. We ate at locals homes as well as top notch restaurants. Everything was perfect.

Mihai is the best, absolutely the best

Romania is a must-see country and Mihai is the best tour guide to share it with you. He promptly answered all of my questions before arriving and provided us with a trip beyond our expectations. From the scheduled visits to castles and villages to the spontaneous and unexpected, every day was filled with pleasant surprises. I’d recommend Mihai for your trip if you’re looking for a relaxed but highly memorable trip.

An amazing visit to Romania

We toured Romania for 8 days and had a fantastic time with Mihai. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. It was a private tour, just two of us and our guide ( and driver) and it was an amazing experience. Mihai picked out some great hotels, including the room Prince Charles stays at when he visits his cottage in the countryside of Transylvania. Our room in Bran had the perfect view of Bran Castle all lit up at night. Apafi manor was another amazing experience, with Regina cooking us dinner and breakfast. We learned so much on this trip and also experienced the beautiful nature including some encounters with the local brown bears( safe of course). I would highly recommend Mihai to arrange a tour. He listened to what we were interested in and arranged the perfect tour

WOW.....what a spectacular trip!

Mihai arranged a seven day tour for us and it exceeded expectations. I've traveled to many places around the world (and typically don't writ reviews) and had many guides but Mihai is the best. There's nothing he could have done to have made the trip any better! When traveling to Romania....contact Mihai.

WOW! What an amazing trip!

We just finished an awesome multi-day Transylvania trip with Stefan. We couldn’t have had a better guide. Besides being a walking dictionary, he was also very personable, professional, and most importantly, very accommodating. He was very helpful especially with my father-in-law who is in a wheelchair.

On top of that, the MB van that we used was modern, clean, and in great shape. The locations that he brought us to and the sceneries were spectacular. The hotels that we stayed in were beautiful and right in the middle of town.

We highly recommend him and this company and will definitely use them again for our other trips. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

Wonderful journey

We (four friends) were lucky enough to find Mihai when we were planning our trip to Romania. We contacted him about our areas of interest, including the wooden churches, painted monasteries, countryside, Romanian culture and craft. He designed a comprehensive and tantalising itinerary that included visiting the Maramures and Bucovina regions. From our first encounter we knew that we had made the right decision. Mihai is an exceptional tour guide, a great communicator, superb driver, and goes out of his way to make things happen. He was very flexible and had no problem adjusting our outline itinerary if we were swept along with other possibilities. He is very good company, speaks excellent English, and thanks to his easy and open manner, he managed to provide us with experiences in the local communities that we had not considered possible. I would thoroughly recommend anyone who wants a bespoke visit to Romania to book Mihai as a tour guide.
