It's right across street from the Cathedral Park and the Arc of Triumph. This monument is important because of Moldovan history. Check it out if you have time. If not, not a big deal.

The monument is located at the corner of Ștefan cel Mare Park in central Chisinau, next to busy streets. The monument itself is a basic statue.

The statue of Stephen the Great dominates the entrance to this peaceful, well maintained and popular public park. Simple statue to a former leader. Memorable without being spectacular.

Stephen the Great means a lot for Moldavians and Romanians and this statue and its troubled history is a testimony. Around the statue there are several interesting inscriptions reporting various relocations, locally and in Romania, during the last 90 years.

There is really not much to say. It is a monument dedicated to Moldova's cultural heroes-- Stephen cel Mare. Perhaps it is most useful as a reference point in navigating the city center and as a place to meet friends. You probably cannot miss it...More
