Wandering through the most commercial streets in the lower part of the city, it will not be unlikely to come across this monument which portrays a man sitting in a thoughtful attitude. It is a statue that portrays and celebrates the figure of Nikola Tesla, a famous Yugoslavian engineer and inventor who worked in the field of electricity. The monument itself is nothing special.

Walked to the Technical Museum (entrance fee 3€) of Nikola Tesla. The museum was about a mile walk from our hotel.
There is a room filed with examples of Tesla inventions.
The museum itself is way beyond the small area dedicated to Tesla and includes all sorts of engineering information about the development of machinery (practical experience models of such), including a very detailed outline of what it is like (pictures & models) of the nuclear power plant (Krsko) in Slovenia that is joint owned by Croatia & Slovenia. The plant is a 696 MW Westinghouse two loop that went operational in 1983
Of other significant interest was a1943 Italian miniature Submarine (S20) in the main hall.
The crew consisted of three enlisted and one officer. The boat has two external torpedo tubes.

Walking around this part of the city I chanced upon this great statue in honour of Nikola Tesla.
Nikola Tesla ( 1856-1943 ) was born in Smiljan,Croatia was an inventor ,electrical engineer ,mechanical engineer and futurist who was instrumental in the development of alternating current ( AC ) and the electricity supply system we take for granted today.
A great looking statue ,the work of sculptor Ivan Meštrovic ,it shows the great man in deep thought ,very photogenic and most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate on the corner of Preradoviceva Ulica/ Masarykova Ulica .

This monument is in tribute to one of my favourite physicists, Nikola Tesla. A physicist who has made numerous contributions to physics and engineering, but best known for his contributions to the design of the modern AC electricity system. The monument is a bronze statue of Tesla sitting on the ground. He is depicted sitting cross legged, resting his face on his left hand as if deep in thought. Amazing monument to an amazing scientist.

A cool statue of this country man located in lower town. The most apparent thing, is the shinny shoe he has from people touching it so much!

it is really a shame that Nikola Tesla is not much more famous in the World. Much more people knows about Edison, Marcony or some others (I didn't say that they are not important at all!!)... but they don't even know about Nikola Tesla, man with more than 1000 great inventions. Electricity as we know it is actualy the basic thing in our lives and Tesla is the one who made it for us! The statue in the center of Zagreb is really one of the smallest things that we (human) can do for such a great inventer as Nikola Tesla was!
