My husband and I have ben on 20-30 food tours around the world. Hands down, this was the best and most impressive, by far. I thought the others were all great, but this was outstanding. Do not hesitate for one second to book this! It is advertised as a 6-hour tour, but ours went more than an hour over that, with Morana telling us she doesn't look at her watch; she just walks, talks, eats, and enjoys the conversation, and time isn't an issue. We went to a cafe with unusual local pastries that were out of this world. The first was a nonsweet pastry dough filled with a kind of cottage cheese filling...a savory dish that was very good. The second was a poppyseed pie with chocolate and a little marmalade and whipped cream. Unlike the usual food tour, these were not tastes, but full huge pieces of pastry. After that, we walked a while and came to the local farmer's market. We walked around and tasted several cheeses. The local favorite, Pag cheese, or Pag Island cheese, is so wonderful - it is sheep's milk cheese and has a most distinctive delicious taste!
Then, it got really exciting. In a small side street we came to a restaurant that only serves strukli, a Croatian cheese and sour cream dish. Ours was the original, baked, and is like cheese blintzes baked and topped with more cheese. So delicious! And with it, we had a lavender drink and a mint drink. Both were really, really good.
We saw all of the City sights. We went to all the overlooks and all the city squares and statues. Morana knew so much of the history of the city. She is quite the impressive woman. We felt so at home with her...she was like a good friend who was sharing her city with us.
And now...are you ready???....we went to the highlight of the day, which was far beyond any other place on any other tour. We were taken to a woman's home. She cooks all of her own food and operates as a private club. When we got there, we were between lunch and dinner. So she just starts cooking and bringing food....in a dining room in her own home! We have never experienced this! She first brought a huge appetizer tray with homemade bacon, homemade sausage, homemade pate, wonderful bread, a cheese and spinach tart, homemade cheese, and some vegetables. So, so good! Then she made us a porcini mushroom omelette that was to die for. And there was a choice of four desserts. We had homemade dumplings filled with plums and served with cinnamon sugar and sour cream AND a fabulous poppyseed apple cake that is possibly the best dessert I have ever tasted. It was extremely moist and packed with apples and served with whipped cream.
I cannot describe adequately how tremendous this day was! It was like all of Croatia was pouring out its heart on two US travelers. Amazing. Morana is so great...by the end of the day, we were inviting her to visit us in Southern California so we could show HER around!
We would do this tour again if ever we are in Zagreb, recommend it heartily, and urge you to contact Zagreb Bites if you are ever in the city. The quality is over the top. And no, we are not related to anyone in Croatia. It was just so, so good!

This is a very overdue review for a wine tour near Zagreb in the fall of 2014.
My boyfriend and I joined Morana for a wine tour in the Zelina region, which is right outside of Zagreb. She picked us up at our house (bonus!) and off we went. We visited two wineries that day. We learned about the wine production, tasted some delicious wines, snacked on home made cheese/sausage, and then made a purchase to take home.
Morana dutifully provided translation assistance when necessary, and made all of the arrangements prior to our arrival at the wineries.
After the first winery, we visited an amazing local restaurant where we had zagrli soup, roasted duck, and mlinci. This is consistently my favorite sort of meal in Zagreb, and our lunch spot delivered.
Could you attempt to organize your own trip around Zelina? Maybe. But, I will tell you that having Zagrebites on your side to make reservations, drive you, and help explain the wines will make the experience 100% better. You simply just do not get the same "access" to the wine and its producers without this kind of service.
I would highly recommend Zagrebites to anyone visiting Zagreb. They are very flexible when it comes to finding a tour that fits what you're looking for, in terms of time, location, and budget. So, even if you don't see something you want on the home page, it's worth sending them an email.

Spent an enjoyable few hours walking around Zagreb with Zagreb Bites. The tour was a relaxing informal way to see the main sights combined with sampling craft beer, cheese, Croatian wines, local meats, strukli and schnapps. The guides - Morana and Lada - know the best non-touristy spots in town for a quick beer, wine tasting or trying local delicacies.

Having only a day and a half in Zagreb, we tossed up what would be the best way to see the city and boy, did we make the right decision chosing Zagreb Bites! Morana met us at our lodging on the outskirts of town at 9.30am to begin our day adventure. We had an amazing day where we walked around town being shown all the tourist hot spots but at the same time sampling some of the most amazing food. From buying pasties in a small patiserrie and taking them to a coffee shop, stopping at a new bar to try local beer and wines plus cheeses & cured meats. A trip around the market, a visit to an underground wine bar, late lunch in an amazing restaurant where we sampled a meal cooked in the traditional Croatian way, in a peka, home made ice cream and late afternoon drinks at a bar near where we were staying. Nine hours later, extremely satisfied and feeling like we wouldn't be able to eat for a week, we finally arrived home. I can't recommend this tour highly enough! Thank you so much Morana for such a memorable day.

We arranged a private tour with Iva and it was AMAZING! Great combination of excellent coffee, food, drinks and sight seeing! Iva was also wonderful with our son. He has Aspergers and is a very picky eater. By the end of the tour he was holding Iva's hand and eating "donuts" from the Christmas Market. Highly recommend!

The classic tour from Zagreb bites is definitely worthwhile doing.
The tour covers the main sights that you would expect to see on a normal city walking tour, interspersed with good food and drink options along the way.
Our guide was very knowledgeable both about her city and the restaurants/bars within and was happy to customize the tour based on what her customers want to eat or drink.
The tour was slightly more expensive than what we would normally pay, but we were definitely happy that we did this and would recommend it as a must-do in Zagreb.

We did a craft beer/food/wine tour with Ozren. It was wonderful! Ozren is extremely knowledgeable, kind, friendly and accommodating to your food and drink preferences. We visited two craft beer bars, a wine cellar and a delicious restaurant. Along the way, Ozren pointed out the main sites and provided a wealth of information about Zagreb and Croatia. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Zagreb. He also gave us recommendations for the rest of our trip in Croatia. Thank you Ozren and Zagreb Bites!

The tour was very organized. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon with Ladara, our guide.
First of all, we booked late and luckily she was available. We requested an afternoon/ evening and this was also accommodated. We started out with a walk seeing beautiful streets and architecture, the Cathedral had us in awe, then stopped for a tasting of different schnapps.
Our second stop was a quaint restaurant where we sat in a lovely garden and had a local beer and a very traditional cheesy and delicious dish called Strukli. Then off for more sightseeing and a wine-and-cheese tasting on a patio. Here Ladara shared stories of Croatian politics and local attitudes while we asked questions and were fascinated and humoured.
Dinner was next, more wine, schnapps and goat with peppers and potatoes, which we had never had before. We were so full and satisfied! It was a wonderful way to spend our last few hours in Croatia!

We spent an enjoyable day exploring Zagreb through its food and drink with our guide Morana. The tour covered a lot of ground, but was well-paced and never rushed. I thought the format was one of the best of all the food tours I've done. It started with breakfast, ended with a late lunch and had everything from a wine tasting to market charcuterie in between. And Morana told us loads about Zagreb and its history as we went along.
I really was impressed with the way that, just by chatting, Morana found out our likes, dislikes and interests. She tweaked her plans to accomodate these as she went along, turning a good tour into a great tour. That cold cider in the Art Park was a welcome detour!

We booked a tour with Zagreb Bites and spent the day with our excellent guide Morana exploring the city starting with coffee and taking in local cheese, prsut, rakija, wine, strukli and beer. The tour which lasted 8 hours was well paced and was a great mix of walking, sightseeing, eating, drinking and local insight. It was great to explore the market, underground tunnels and views from the upper town. A particular highlight was the wine tasting at Bornstein where we tried 3 different wines and had the opportunity to chat to the knowledgeable and friendly owner. Morana was really informative with a great sense of humour and gave us some great tips for the rest of our holiday. It was a great way to see a lovely city.
