If you visit here on Mondays, you can get cheaper tickets (20 kn instead of usual 30 kn for adults). Personally, I was not impressed, although the last time I was here was 12 years ago. Some alterations have taken place, certain habitats have been expanded, some are still being expanded but despite this a lot of these habitats seem too small for certain animals, especially the habitat for sea lions (since I was a child, and that was some 25 years ago, their pool has not been expanded by a millimeter! Housing / cages for monkeys are also very, very small.
It is an interesting thing that you can become a sponsor of some animals (find out the details on the official website of the Zoo). I hope that this money really will be used for the care of the animals. In general, I have a much nicer experience of this part of Zagreb when I walk through Maksimir Park.

There’s not much to do in Zagreb for toddlers so thought we’d give the Zoo a go. It was one of the loveliest Zoos we’ve been too and incredibly cheap. Based in beautiful park grounds and a huge variety of species.

The zoo itself was nice with a lot of animals and green. However, the saleswoman of the zoo souvenir shop was very unpleasant and annoyed that people come to the shop to buy something. We entered the shop before exiting the zoo. She did not great us and told: you have 5 minutes. The kids took quickly each a souvenir and went to pay. She told us, no!!! You cannot pay, you have to leave everything here. I already closed the store checkout. The kids were so disappointed and the small one started crying. The lady of the shop was very unpleasant and said that it is ne her business. That was very frustrating and definitely, not customer friendly....

I could not believe how cheap this zoo was. I found it weird that as you step off a tram to go to the zoo there are some lamp posts were wrapped/dressed as Giraffes, however there are no Giraffes at this zoo. Maybe Zebras print would have been better as the zoo has zebras.
It is quite a small zoo, some of the areas did not seem very well maintained. It was very quiet the day I went there, apart from myself I saw a couple of schools, and a couple of families.
The on site restaurant food was not very nice, and it tasted very dry and rubbery.
I did not spend much time at the zoo. I would recommend to go based on price, but I would not re-visit.

Price was good only 4 euros. Only disappointed part was when you got inside a lot of the enclosures were empty. Sign up saying monkeys were inside if cold outside but then the building you go inside to view was also closed. Was an badger in a pen just walked around in a circle not nice to see. Petting area was one goat and two sheep that's it.

The zoo itself is in a park. The zoo and the park are together huge (zoo itself is around 3 hours). The zoo is a bit of a maze, we didnt get a map and there are not much direction guiders. Some of the cages are large, but some cages were sadly very small (like the sea lions). They were working on some enclosures, so hopefully some will get bigger.

A semi-good zoo. The animals were taken care of and the petting zoo was great (the goats came to you if they wanted to be pet and had a chance of leaving the area if they wanted to). There are trees in the area which give some much needed shade to the animals and visitors. However, some of the attractions were a bit old, worn-out or broken and that was a shame. Doesn’t need to be brand new but just fix it. 🤷🏼♀️
It wasn’t too crowded when we visited: July 15. around midday and afternoon.
Would recommend though. Nice place to visit because not too many people and nice to stroll around the area.

There is a huge variety of animals here and the value for money is excellent. There are however only so many snakes that I can look at, I realised this today when I hit my annual quota.
We did, at times wonder if the enclosures were too small for the animals, but we are by no means experts.
It was a very quiet place which meant you didn’t feel rushed anywhere and could play hide and seek with the animals for as long as you liked.
There is quite a bit of renovation going on so some bits are closed. There are also not lots of staff to ask questions to.
The feeding times were punctual and a lovely way to see staff interact with animals.

Absolutely amazing zoo value for money. We arrived thinking it would be a 20 minute walk. When we found out it was only €3. It turned out to be one of the best zoos Me and my partner have ever been to. We was there for over four hours, looking at the variety of different animals reptiles birds. Ect absolutely brilliant would definitely recommend visiting Zagreb

Lots of animals inside for the winter. Lots of playgrounds and really comfortable seats. Other moms can be pretentious and hush your children. Nice for a half day out. Can see the stadium after.
