The cathedral has a beautiful exterior. It was damaged in the earthquake and a lot of repairs are being made. You can actually see many of the architectural details from the roof sitting on the ground waiting to be repaired which makes for an interesting close-up of some intricately carved stone. It is sad to see it needing so many repairs due to damage but the braces and scaffolding along with the church make for an interesting photo.

Symbol of the city of Zagreb. Whenever I come to Zagreb, I go to visit it. I light a candle and pray. SeIt is located on Kaptol and it is the first most important Gothic building in Croatia. The largest sacral building and one of the most valuable monuments of Croatian heritage. The full name is the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed. The Virgin Mary and Saints Stephen and Ladislav. Just beautiful.

Great cathedral with beautiful spires. It’s currently being renovated so you can’t get too close. In fact it seems like most of the church building with any history are currently being remodeled. I loved the exterior. It’s close to the downtown area and close to most of the things you’d want to see I. Zagreb.

It was interesting to walk around and admire the elaborate scaffolding propped against the building, but access to the inside was closed. Disappointing, but still a beautiful building. Evidently, they are repairing due to earthquakes? That’s what we were told.

Nice Cathedral but under construction at the time we were there. So we could only see parts of it and the rest of it was under construction and could not go inside of it. That was not good but understanding why and hopefully in the future it will reopen again.

Symbol of the city of Zagreb. Whenever I come to Zagreb, I go to visit it. I light a candle and pray. It is located on Kaptol and it is the first most important Gothic building in Croatia. In 1880, the architect was Hermann Bolle. Alojzije Stepinac, Franjo Kuharic, Franjo Seper, Petar Zrinski are buried there.

This stop was the last stop on our walking tour. As per every other place we visited on our walking tour, the guide told us some very interesting facts about the cathedral. Going inside was another great experience with very helpful assistants inside. Note: this cathedral takes its dress code very seriously - one inappropriately dressed young woman was asked to leave.

Nice cathedral undergoing a face lift. The cathedral can be seen for miles and provides a landmark to help city navigation. Original clock face distroyed in a fire is mounted on a wall adjacent to the cathedral and information boards outline the history.

The cathedral is beautiful, no question. The Gothic spires and the castel fortresses on either side make it fit for a fairy tale. The one thing that made me glad I came to Zagreb! This is my second favorite cathedral afdter Our Lady of Tyne in Prague so that is telling. It is absolutely exquisite and one of the most beautiful in the world.

It's Zagreb's most recognizable monument. The Neo Gothic spires punctuate Zagreb's Upper Town.

It is amazing sight from the outside. Unfortunately during our visit in October 2021, everything was closed off and not able to see the inside.
