The funicular connects the Lower and Upper parts of the old city.
It is around three quarters of a mile on foot north of the main railway station.
The journey lasts about a minute but saves a lot of energy particularly if you are on your way up.
The cost is 5 kuna.

Zagreb funicular ("Zagrebačka uspinjača") is one of the shortest funiculars in the world, spanning just 66 meters. It was built at the end of the 19th century, and it has two cars, alternatively going uphill and downhill. Runs are every 10 minutes, and it takes just over a minute for the ride. A characteristic run worth a try, and with tickets costing just 5 kuna (0.66 Euro) as of October 2022.

A convenient way to get from the lower to the upper city or vice versa. The walk on foot is quite steep. It runs every 10 minutes and the price is low. When we used it there were always seats, as if the locals don't use it much

A throwback to a different era. The best thing you can do in all of Croatia for 5 Kuna. But go quickly, Kuna are almost gone. The best things about our ride (down) was that Sugata, our CTO was held "hostage" until I could dig up said 5 Kuna (x2) -- didn't have cash. The story ended well, he is still with us. :-)

This is the shortest funicular in the world but certainly worth the trip. It costs a bit under 50p each way. We'd walked up and down the steps rather than using the funicular a few times and it is quite a trek so the saving of the legs was great!

Luckily you can use your transit card to access the funicular as it it literally takes 64 seconds from top to bottom or bottom to top of actual travel time. It goes about very 10 or 5 minutes so we actually spent more time getting on and off and waiting for it to go. We got on just before midday and the cannon on the tower above went off and scared the heck out of my wife and the others on the funicular. Luckily I had read about it but forgot to tell my wife. It was extremely loud (140Db) and rattled the windows of the carriage.
Its not a really worthwhile trip but I can't stop myself from doing a city funicular. Its probably just the unique experience of it that we don't really have in Australia.
There is OK signage off the main road to find the bottom stop and its a little walk up a road to get to it.

It is so short that you really wonder why they bothered building this! If you get your timing wrong, it is certainly quickly to walk up! Still it is a quirky thing to do. At the top there are a few touristy things to do - St Marks, midday gun and the Broken Relationships ‘museum’. We walked down!

It is a bit hard to find. It was in a ally near a main shopping street. The ride takes a few seconds. The stairs are next to the rails and takes maybe 3 minutes to climb. The ride is really expensive, so i recommend taking the stairs.

So we walked up to the Zagreb upper town ... wished we had found the funicular sooner. At least we got some good exercise walking up. Took the funicular for the very short ride down just to ride it.
The funicular’s story ... The small Zagreb Funicular opened in 1893 with steam engines that were replaced to electric engines in 1934. The length of the line is only 66 meters (217 ft) which makes it one of the shortest funiculars in the world. But at the same time it ascends 30.5 meters (100 ft) which gives in an inclination of 52%, so it’s also one of the steepest funiculars in the world. The entire ride takes 55 seconds, so sit back and enjoy the view.

when sightseeing, make sure you don't miss the funicular, and then clime onto the Lotrscak tower overlooking the funicular's top station. Absolutely the best view of the city. The funicular takes only 1 minute to ride, make sure you stand on the side facing the city, not the hill, and wait...
At the top station, exit right and you'll get to a terrace with the view. The main square and Cathedral are to the left, ahead of you is the 'lower town' and New Zagreb stretching to the South. Behind your back there will be the Lotrscak tower.

My apologies for the delay in replying; I had not seen your message! The chap above has answered you pretty well, there is a ticket sales office at both ends of the short ride and there's always a helpful attendant around too... :)
