When I come to Zagreb I always stay in Maksimir area. It is a huge green space very near the city center. You can reach it by public transportation in a 10-15 minutes from the main square. The park is a combination of forest and five lakes. Some parts are very cultivated but you can also find some great wild... More

I went for a walk around the park on my first day in Zagreb, it was absolutely stunning as all the snow had settled and started to melt. The ponds and lakes were frozen over and it was just so peaceful! I lovely, relaxing way to spend the morning!

Green oasis near city center (5 min with cab or 10 with tram). A lot of walking area filled with green, 2-3 open area bars and ZOO inside.

I'm not sure in which season this park is the most beautiful. I like to go there on my bike or just walk through the park. You can go there alone to get away from all the noise or with someone. It is perfect for all kind of activities, you can exercise or just lay down on your blanket and... More

Visited on a snowy day in January so unfortunately did not make it around the entire park (very icy!) but I spent about an hour and a half there and the parts I did see were beautiful. The lakes are lovely, with plenty of ducks. Additionally, it's very easy to get to - from the central square (Jelačic) you can... More

a very big and very green park, lots of tall trees producing great shades in the summer, unbelievable scenery perfect for long walks and simply enjoying a sunny day in the nature

Great park for everyone from small kids to people with dogs, there are two caffe bars in the park and of course the ZOO which I would also recommend

I live just two blocks from Maksimir park. This is the natural gem of Zagreb. It is protected natural sight. Well cultivated, several lakes and with Zagreb ZOO. I love every season in Maksimir, especially fall and summer. It is packed with people wanting to relax, walk, play with kids, ride a bike etc. To get there - take tram... More

Went here on a chilly December afternoon. All the lakes were frozen, but was fun to walk around. This place is pretty huge so we could not cover all of it due to the weather. The tram stop to get here is right outside, so it is also easy to access. There is a restaurant inside the premises, but it... More
