A must-see attraction that is unique to Zagreb, this tower gives you a clear 360-degree view of the entire city, which makes for good photo opportunities and an unforgettable experience. You'll need to climb the narrow staircase of the tower to reach the top though, and we were lucky that when we visited there was no one around so not sure how it would be like with crowds.

The main feature of the tower is of course the cannon that fires at noon everyday and if you are someone who does not mind loud sound (but please, bring thick earmuffs it's really quite loud), you can try your luck hanging around the tour at noon.

Cannon and scenic view, you cannot go wrong with this combination. Must visit in Zagreb.

The stairs are narrow and winding, so maybe not good if you're claustrophobic. Otherwise, views definitely worth the climb! Make sure you go up on time though, so a bit before noon, I barely made it up when the cannon fired. There's also a few exhibits about its history on the middle floors.

Lotrscak Tower was built in the middle of the 13th century to protect the south city gate. You can climb to the top for a 360 degree view of the city. Unfortunately, the cannon shot that fired at 12 noon has been discontinued due to the recent earthquake.

Set your watches and watch your ears. People of Zagreb have set their watches by the cannon blast at 12 midday since the middle of the 19th century. Just watch your ears though as its bloody loud. We found this out when sitting on the funicular below. I knew it was going off but didn't realize it was 140Db. It scared the heck out of my wife and others on the funicular which was actually funny to see.
It costs 3 Euros each to enter and has a narrow winding staircase to reach the top which was a fairly easy climb. It had amazing views of Zagreb and was a great price. Other towers in Europe we had climbed had cost a lot more.
You can see the cannon when climbing the stairs and as it had just been fired, you could still smell the cordite in the air. If you're in the tower when it goes off, make sure you cover your ears as it is 140 Db.
This was a great experience and well worth the money and time to get awesome views over Zagreb.

I wasn't sure about going up here, but I had some spare time, and funds so I decided to go in. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a nice day, and there was some seating near the open windows, so you could hear the hustle and bustle from the street, and the buskers if there was any. There are some great views from each level. It was a little windy at the very top, you could see the evidence of this, with someones cap on the roof. I would highly recommend this for anyone visiting Zagreb great value for money. I would go again if in Zagreb.

This tower is located right at the top of the funicular between lower and upper parts of Zagreb. We didn't get the chance to go inside it, but we were there in the courtyard below it for the daily noon firing of the cannon from its top. This was a fun experience - and startlingly loud, even if you're expecting it! We were told the name means "Burglars' Tower" and that it was part of the defense of the city during the Middle Ages.

This is a beautiful building with great views. We happen to arrive at 1150. The cannon goes off at 1200 to let the churches know the time. We were on the top deck. There you get the best view of Zagreb. I am not sure what the name is for the man that sets off the cannon. He had been doing it since 2008 when the last cannon man retired. He was kind enough to take a picture of my husband and I after the cannon fired and he had to run to his next job. This is a good memory.

There are two ways of experiencing this tower, right at the top of the funicular. One is to stand at its base and quake as the noon gun goes off (scary fun) and the other is to ascend to the top, during which time you can see the gun and after which, you'll get a great view. Either way is great.

I visited Lotrscak Tower which costs 20 kunar (£3?) and is just next to the funicular stop. Although I had walked past the gun being prepared for the midday firing it still nearly gave me a damned heart attack when it went off as I was taking pictures from the balcony above! Deb sensibly stayed on the ground while I took my photos. There are information boards on each level explaining the tradition of the gun firing and a brief history of the town.

It is a beautiful sight of Zagreb. The people who are selling the tickets are so bored so at some point you don’t want to go up there. I bought the ticket for 3 Euros 💶 and went upstairs. At some stage you think that there won’t be an open area but at the end there is and you can see Zagreb in 360 degrees.
