About
A new kind of museum at the heart of Zagreb. It occupies the first floor of an old building in the historical part of the city, surrounded by famous touristic sights. The ZAGREB 80's is dedicated to present past in a new way. Its space is a reconstruction of everyday life in the former Yugoslavia in a unique and interactive way that intersects past & future, way of life & heritage, memories & emotions. There is no guide, no fence, no velvet ropes, no glass in our place. Exhibition introduces lively decade in fun and enlightening way. You are invited to make a step into the apartment where everything remains the golden 80's. ZAGREB 80's encourages visitors to touch, feel and interact with exposition to recall sweet moments, evoke nostalgia and find out the way of life in recent past. One day at the weekend we have a party at the museum along with a musical journey through the 80's.

I am quite frankly baffled by the large number of 5 star reviews and wonder if they are not spambot generated. The 80s museum is a very small staged apartment with 80s furnishings. You can look in cabinets and poke around, but there is almost zero engaging content here. You will learn nothing and you will be done in 10 minutes flat. I encourage anyone that visits Zagreb to skip this one. As a lover of offbeat museums and of the 80s, this did nothing for me and was overpriced.

Always wanted to pop in on my travels through Zagreb. This time the weather dipped for a couple of hours, which is what it took!
Not sue why I hadn't been before - a perfectly simple idea - as they say 'no guides' 'no blocked off areas' etc - just wander through the different rooms typical of a flat in the former Yugoslavia in the 1980s. All rooms are covered (except the bathroom). Although I grew up in the UK, many items filled with me nostalgia and many of those that were different were due to product brands being different or things hitting fashion at a slightly different time. I'm sure for more local based people it is even more interesting.
I loved playing PacMan again after many years without doing so and I was still rubbish at it!

This was so much fun! Even though this interactive museum is a snapshot of a typical yogoslavian household in the 80s, it reminded me of my home growing up (in the uk!)
I quite liked that you can touch/move/dress up/play with all the items. Whilst I didnt try on the wedding dress, Pacman still has its charm and I am still rubbish at it.

Overall, very cute little museum. Well worth a visit.

Better donate your money to a charity or just keep it.
You can visit any vintage store in the city which is probably better curated and proper organized. No information, no sense for what they want to communicate, no appreciation for the stuff or time they are showing and bad smell.
When we visited it looked more like a dump than museum - have been to “time” or “generation-related” museums in other places, but this one is a real tourist trap.
I think a look on 80s jugoslawia has deserved better. Sorry!

There comes a time in your life when you realize all the crap you had scattered about your home as a child... is now old enough to be in a museum. It's weird how the setups seem so normal, yet are so surreal and far away, like recalling a dream.

This was a big punch of nostalgia for sure. In more ways than one for me; I was born in 1981 but lived abroad, partially in Poland during Communist times, so I could certainly relate directly to a lot of the items on display. A lot of the items were Yugoslav-specific, yet I feel that there was probably a lot that the typical suburban America kid could relate to as well.

Admission is relatively inexpensive. They let you handle the items and look through all the drawers and items. Easily I could have spent an entire day looking through old pin albums, photo collections, wardrobes, et al.

It was a nice departure from the present, to a naive reality that once was.

One of the best museums I have ever been in! It came as surprise that we could touch everything, "drive" the 80s car, test 80s clothes, play 80s board and video games. It's decorated as typical 80s house + some cars, mopeds and games with 80s music playing in the background. And the lady behind the counter was super nice, always when I tested weird 80s clothes, she laughed with me at those, and always when we asked something, she always anwsered nicely and clearly.

Overall the museum is very nice, since you can touch and try out everything displayed. The staff was very polite and explained how the exposition works. Very cool to see stuff from places like my grandmothers house, takes you back in time. Ticket price (4€) also seemed very reasonable. Would recommend to visit.

Great apartment remade and decorated to the style of typical homes of the former Yugo. Living room and kitchen are excellent models with electronics, books, magazines, kitchen essentials, food packages and furniture from across the former country. Bedroom and study done up well too. Children’s playroom needs some work. Unfortunately no souvenirs to buy which would be a nice addition. Reception not very knowledgeable. More captions would be helpful too.

Interesting concept with nice 80's vintage decoration and equipment.
An apartment is the so called museum with living room, kitchen, office, bedroom.
Not much interest and things to see.
But not worth 40KN. I don't recommend.

My friend and I wanted to do something fun on a hot summer day in the city and we randomly stumbled upon this amazing place. Neither of us are from the eighties, but the museum did an amazing job introducing us to it. The museum is interactive and fun. You can dress up and touch everything you want. It is clean. The receptionist is really nice and she offer to take pictures of us at any point of our wandering trough. I would recommend this place to everyone. Don’t walk there… RUN.
