St. Mark's Square is located in the old town. In the center is St. Mark's Church. Also in the square are important governmental buildings.

Unfortunately during our visit in October 2021, everything was closed off and fenced in.

The real reason to come here is to see the beautiful St. Mark's church and its amazing roof. The square itself is a small area in front of the church, which also borders on several governmental buildings (the parliament and offices for them and the prime minister). I don't believe you can enter any of the buildings (the church was closed for renovations when we visited), but it's still worth stopping by to view the exteriors.

St Mark's square is the centre of Gornje grad and is dominated by the Church of St. Mark, smack bang in the middle of the square. There’s lots of government buildings around the square as well. Unless you’re planning on visiting the church, there’s no major reason to come to the square. (currently closed)

The main obvious reason one would come to St Marks square is to see the iconic St Marks church. When we visited in early March 2023, the square seemed to be fenced off with barriers as they were doing a lot of renovations to the church.
You could still see the square and all the lovely buildings around it (Croatian parliament / old city hall and more) but couldn't access the main part. There were police monitoring the square as well to ensure no-one went in.

Several government offices are located here, as well as a notable church. Unfortunately, the square was fenced off and it was not possible to enter.

We were so excited to go see St Mark's Square, but it was closed to the public with a fence all around due to covid. That being said, St Mark's church was absolutely beautiful!

The best part of visiting St. Marks is getting there and the views you get going up and walking down. There was a free concert in the church that day which made the experience even more worthwhile.

St. Mark's Square is a nice locality hosting St. Mark's church - very good architecture. This is on the upper town and looks very good to spend evening times. A must visit to the ancient place.

This square is located in the rather laid back and secluded upper lower town. The name of the street is due to the presence of the St.Marks church.. which I would call a very patriotic looking church due to the emblem of Croatia beautifully etched in tiles in the roof. The square also comprise of St. Catherine's church...
Go and enjoy this square
