We are experienced players (done 20+ rooms so far) and at first we were sceptical but we were so pleasently surprised!!! This was UNIQUE and VERY FUN experience. The concept of this room is a bit different then in others we did and all in all I would rate this room at top three of all I did so far! Puzzles are clever, fun and unique - I felt like I was in a movie. 75 minutes long, which is nice. Game master helped us just when and how we needed it. I resent that they don’t have student discount and our game master didn’t tell us when we had 15 minutes left until the end of the game. I went in several other escape rooms and they all had student discount and would tell when we have 15mins left. A suggestion for improvement would be that if the entire task can be solved, to get some reward in the sense of, for example, a coupon for a 10% discount on the next visit or maybe some coupon for a discount on food/drinks, because very likely everyone goes to discuss it after the event. So far i have expirienced about 10 more or less room escape games in Zagreb. Usaly we finish the all rooms in one place before moving on to the next. Can't say I was very happy with this room. Some parts of the puzzles ware not working properly and from what I see this is not a new problem as from other reviews. So the room brakes down a lot or they don't care enough to fix them. We ware told that one (could be more but I remember one) of the puzzles did suffer some earthquake damage and did not work. In my expirience in any professional buissnis you don't sell things that are not working up to 100% for full price or at all before you fix them. And we ware told about the damage once we got there and not before. We had the reservation for a week and they did have our contact information. And our room started with a mistake and a clue how to solve a puzzle was placed wrong and we lost some time trying to get pass it. Not sure how much time did pass before game master realized but we got to stay 10 minutes longer. Some things ware not practical to handle and some ware not even needed. The instructions that we recived in the start about there is notning in the floor but instalations and we don't need anything there for the room didin't help, without trying to spoil anything there are places on the floor that are important that we ignored becouse of thouse instructions.
The girl running the game was a good game master. Considering the problems I don't see how she could of done it better.
I am a bit fan of room escapes but after this expirience I am skeptical about the other rooms they have and not 100% sure will we visit them. Even if I would ignore all the problems I would still say there are better room escapes out there that cost less than this one. That alone would not dicurage me from visiting other rooms as there are always rooms I like more and rooms I like less. Taste is something else and other rooms might be more to my liking.

This is really incredible and fun! I came with my colleagues. One group went to the Don Carlo room, and we went to the Egyptian room. The decoration of the room was really great as well as the secrets that were hidden inside. I felt like I was Indiana Jones. The rooms are very well designed. We felt so much alive while we were in there! We will definitely check out the other rooms next time. Our hostess Manuela was very nice and she was great at story telling that pumped us up before entering the room.

Today we played two rooms: Don Carlo and Cubes. Both were fun but cubes are unique. If you wanna experience escape room in a different way because of its set up I would recommend it but I would also suggest playing some other room before you choose this one so that if you don't like it you wouldn't think that other escape rooms are similar because this one sticks out (but for me in a good and creative way) Also, our game master Matea was very sweet

Portal escapes is located on the third floor of a large appartment building. When you step trough the door, you enter another world. We left our bags in a free locker and we went to the fifties, the time of the maffia boss Don Carlos.
This wasn't our first escape room and we found it very enjoyable. The room had quite a few puzzles, not very easy, but also not too difficult. Most puzzles had multiple layers, each step bringing you closer to a solution. And you could work on multiple puzzles at the same time.
A definite recommendation.

First we played Don Carlo. We escaped in 30 minutes I think, something like that. Then gamemaster Matea offered us to play Black Queen with 20% off the price. We were so hyped! Thank her and the staff for that. She was so nice from the beginning. Highly recomended!!!

We have visited several escape room sites, but this was our first visit to Portal Escape. The game we played was their own and it was quite interesting. A lot of puzzles, nothing too complicated but makes you think. We received good help when needed and whole experience was excellent. Another thing I would like to add is that all the locks work well, nothing gets stuck or anything. I would really recommend this room escape.

Seven of us enjoyed the Don Carlo experience very much; the room was interesting, immersive and enjoyable. Our gamemaster Matea made us feel very welcome and respected our wishes for the amount of help given. We were afraid if the room was going to be too easy for our large group, but it was balanced very nicely and we would definitely visit again.

Don Carlos' secret escape room was the most fun we had in months - since it was our very first visit to an escape room, we had no idea what to expect and were prepared to fail miserably.
However, the gamemaster was very helpful when needed and encouraged us not to give up - we did think his clues and advice could have been a bit more cryptic, it would have been more fun.
The room is very well thought out and interesting, awesome for enthusiastic beginners while the clues include math, geography, cultural knowledge and puzzles. We even tried some costumes for picture time in the end - would have been cool if we could have worn them during the game.
10/10 would recommend for escape room newbies and people who want to have a fun hour and a half doing something different. :D

For the last couple of years, me and my friends went on a somewhat of a spree of escape rooms, going to around 10 of them in Zagreb in a relatively short time. For me, the service, the atmosphere and the complexity of rooms were by far the best in Portal. It was so good that we went to all of the rooms and each room had something new and cool to show, with different puzzles, stories, and surroundings. Also, I would like to mention Matea as the best game master we ever had: great storytelling, great to talk to during the waiting time and funny and all-around very nice.
P.S. They don't run a record of best runs but try to beat Don Carlo in 31/75 minutes and Black Queen in 40/70 minutes ^^ ;)
