Rila monastery was definitely worth a visit. Everything ran on time with the shuttle, just that the driver drove a bit quickly at times. 3h at the monastery - enough time for lunch and to walk around. Be sure to bring thicker clothing due to the elevation-related cold (we went in winter, and so it was -6 deg).

Excellent tour to visit Rila Monastery and Boyana church in one day.
Very well organized and with a profesional guide who knows perfectly what he is talking about, and not only about the monastery and the church.
And with enough time to visit these interesting places and enjoy them.
Do not miss it if you are in Sofia.
Fully recommended!!!

I am a true lover of nature and a big fan of hikes.. However, my friend (who joined me for this trip) is not the biggest fan of hikes. When we were deciding whether to do this hike or not, we read a lot of comments here and most of them said that the hike is really easy. It isn’t!

It is definitely worth the effort, but be aware, you will need to put a lot of effort! If you don’t like walking for hours and up hill, don’t go!

If you, like me, enjoy a challenge and a beautiful view, USE SUN SCREEN, take a hat and enjoy your trip!

Also, the Monastery is beautiful but we felt like 1:30hrs there was a bit much! We would rather have used this time in the Lakes!

We booked a private day tour to Plovdiv, Assen's fortress and Bachkovo monastery. Our driver Philip is an extremely pleasant person. Very friendly and cheerful despite the long drive. Through his thorough knowledge we learnt so much about Bulgaria and its history. One could easily tell that he is a proud Bulgarian and loves what he does. We also appreciate Philip allowing us all flexibility in terms of the sequence of places visited and time spent in each place. It does make the trip more relaxing knowing that we are allowed to make the calls.

I highly recommend Rila Shuttle if you are keen on private tours. They are exceptionally professional people and will take good care of you.

I decided to visit Rila Monastery and spend a night there. Rila Shuttle company was so kind and gentle that organized everything for me to pick me up one day and drop me off next day. The driver Bobby was so friendly and during the journey he explained us a lot of things about Rila and Bulgaria in general. He is very passionate about his job and his country. It’s nice to have good conversations about the differences between Bulgaria and other countries. Second day since there were not other travelers, it was like a private tour haha. Bobby showed me Boyana church site and then, as I was the only traveler with him, drop me off next to my hotel. I am really glad of this experience and I recommend everyone to do this trip with him

This was a very pleasant experience for me. Despite travelling solo, the shuttle driver/guide's hospitality and friendliness gave me all the company I needed! The trip started and ended at exactly the times mentioned. The driver even gave very good back story and short history of the places I went to. This service is the best way to experience Rila in my opinion as it gives complete peace of mind and gives you plenty of time to explore the places. If I wish to visit Bulgaria again I'll definitely use their services again!

I used Rila Shuttle for a day trip to Boyana Church and Rila Monastery. Even though I booked the Shared Shuttle Plus service, it actually turned out to be a private tour as we were the only people in our group. The driver's name was Bobby and he was very polite and professional. We spent probably around 20 mins at Boyana Church (which was plenty of time) and approx 3 hrs at Rila Monastery. He was very knowledgeable about Bulgaria in general and gave us a lot of information. In addition, he dropped us off back at the hotel at the end of the tour even though it was technically not included in the price. I would highly recommend this service!

We used this shuttle service to get to the monastery from our hotel. We expected just a transport service, but the driver also gave us a great insight into the local area and community. Safe and reliable.
