The building of the BAS Central Administration (http://www.cu.bas.bg/) was constructed in the beginning of 20th century. Ever since there were several extensions to the main building. Amongst the halls of the BAS headquarters is the Great Hall used extensively for various scientific and cultural events. At the main building of the BAS are located also the BAS Central Library (http://cl.bas.bg) and the BAS Archive. The Central Library (CL) is the largest scientific library in the country with almost 2 million library units. The BAS CL is also the central depositary of the World Bank publications in Bulgaria. The BAS Lobby was completely restored in 2011. It is also one of the places where visitors of Sofia could see exhibitions of scientific achievements, for commemorating dates of national or international importance etc. If one is an avid reader or scientists who want to see and buy scientific literature, here is the place to do this. One of bookstores of the "Marin Drinov" Academic Publishing House is located on the right-hand corner of the BAS building - close to the "Alexander Nevsky" cathedral. In summary, the BAS headquarters is a must see place for a visitor of Sofia who wants to touch and feel the spirit of the Academia.

The building is in the nicest area in the center of the city, but there isn't anything special to see inside.

I walked past this attractive looking building on the way to the main cathedral. I didn't try to enter, but it didn't seem to have any obvious signage encouraging tourists to go inside.

Bulgarian Academy Of Sciences is a beautiful looking building my twin brother Stephen and I chanced upon as we were walking around this part of town and what a great find.
Although I never ventured into the building, no real interest for me but I must say that I certainly loved the look of the building, very photogenic indeed.
The Bulgarian Academy Of Sciences is easy to locate along 1,15 Ul. Noemvri, well worth checking out .

This is actually a building of the Archive of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It's good look at, especially as it's situated in the very centre, just a few steps from Alexander Nevsky.

A beautiful building to see while passing. It has no real interest for tourists but it's on the beautifully yellow-bricked boulevard next to the Aleksandar Nevsky Cathedral and National Parliament building.

Other than being a very attractive building the Academy of Sciences does not appear to have any attraction for tourists. It is located very near the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in the nicest part of central Sofia.

This is just a lovely building, centrally located near the cathedral.
While entering the building was not allowed, we managed to enjoy its lovely looks and beautiful features from the outside.

You can find it in the center of the city, near Parliament and just opposite hotel Radison. Building is old , but is not something really special.
