A good place for a walk!
Nov 2019
Slaveikov Square is in the city centre of Sofia. It is a good place for a walk. Before some years from there everyone person could buy books, but now not. The stands have been removed.

An absolutely fantastic square to visit.
Dec 2019 • Friends
Named in honour of the famous Bulgarian writers Petko & pencho Slaveykov ,there is a monument to this father and son on the square that is a perfect selfie magnet.
The square itself is really good, its mostly pedestrianised except for the trams that rattle past .
This is a really great square, it's very popular with the locals as well as us tourists, I loved it here, lots of pubs, bars and restaurants just off the square, an area I just loved ,its easy to locate walking down Ul.Graf Ignatiev and is most definitely well worth checking out if your planning a holiday to Sofia.

Great place for walks and talks with friends. Definitely boutique square. The monument of father and son Slaveikov is gorgeous. Miss the book market there. Love that place.

In honour of famous father and son
Jun 2019 • Couples
It's a lovely restful space along the fine ul. Graf Ignatiev. Trees and seating enhance the atmosphere. It is a pedestrian area, except for a couple of trams trundling nearby.

Named to honour a famous father and son, Petko an educationalist and activist and his son Pencho, a modernist poet. A grand sculpture of both seated is a reminder of the provenance.

Library of Sofia is housed in an impressive building. It is worth a look within to say the multitude of tomes.

Construction zone: not so nice
Feb 2019 • Solo
This would probably be quite a nice place if it weren't for all the mess from the construction. There's not much of an area open now with the trams passing through the middle and a narrow pedestrian walkway on the side. Not worth going out of your way to visit at the moment.

Ongoing Construction

Lovely place for years. Open air books market. Old books available too. You can buy for one euro or less nice books.
Most of the market is moved to the small park a front hotel Rila.

Aug 2018 • Family
Normally a great place to saunter about and look at all sorts of books and curios, due to major refurbishing works it's currently all dug up and inaccessible.

Slaveikov Square
Jul 2018
Now they make a construction there and its really hard to see something actually. Its too crowded because part of the street is closed and 2 bus stops are closed too and its awful to go there right now. May be when they finish the construction will be good but now just don't waste your time to go there.
