We were a family group of 5 in Bulgaria to attend a wedding, so only had limited time and had already spent time in Plovdiv. As suggested, we made enquiries with Valentina re the Rhodopes. We received a quick response and were pleased with the suggested itinerary. Our tour was most enjoyable with sites such as the Bachkovo and Rila Monasteries, ski towns of Bankso and Pamporovo, and spa town of Devin. In contrast the quiet villages and our overnight stays in Trigrad and Kovachevista. Our driver and guide, Stancho was excellent - knowledgeable, obliging, laid back and throwing in some extra touches such as the ski lift ride in Pamporovo, photo with a folk dance group in Devin and a typical Bulgarian lunch in the garden of a B&B run by an 80+ lady. Thank you Stancho and Magic Tours.

In early May we spent 8 nights in Bulgaria after touring Romania. A lot of time was spent with Valentina to personalize the itinerary which included 2 nights each in Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, Bansko and Sofia. Plovdiv was the standout and we would have loved to have had a couple more days there. We saw a wide range of sites, the Rock church, monasteries, Roman forts and ruins, a narrow gauge railway journey through the forests, rose oil production, walks in National Parks and we even saw snow. The Villa Melnik winery visit was fantastic, a lovely family business producing great wines. Wine generally was excellent ! Our guide Boris was very flexible, extremely knowledgeable, happy to stop the car for photographs and take them too. Restaurant suggestions for dinner were great and the best table with view arranged in Veliko. We thoroughly enjoyed Bulgarian food, the weather was very good - May is a beautiful time to visit with the countryside so green, the fields full of roses, poppies and grape vines. It was a fabulous trip, all went smoothly, car and accommodation were as requested. We would definitely recommend Magic Tours to arrange your Bulgarian holiday, one to remember for sure!

We organised a 9 day tour of Bulgaria with Valentina of Magic Tours. We are a group of for adults wanting to see Bulgaria for the first time. We planned a detailed itinerary with Valentina’s help: Several days in Sofia then a tour of the country including the marvellous Rila Monastery, overnight in the remote village of Kovachevitsa, several days in beautiful and ancient Plovdiv and several days in Veliko Tărnovo to visit the fortress and the rock churches before transferring to our Romanian tour at Ruse. Valentina organised our accommodation, a marvellous and knowledgeable tour guide, Philip some meals and all our visits. Valentina even organised 9 days of wonderful sunny weather! So did it work and did we have a great and fascinating time in the wonderful country with such a turbulent and interesting history? Absolutely!! and like clockwork!! Our accommodation was excellent (3 star European hotel standard). Bulgarian food is wonderful. The Painted monasteries of Rila and Plovdiv were fascinating. The Rock Church was unique, I could go on and on. We could not have done this ourselves. And I cannot recommend Magic Tours more highly.

We spent a week in May in Bulgaria looking around the country. Valentina from Magic Tours beautifully organized our trip from pick up to sites to hotels and all went extremely well. Our guide Stan was very informative, helpful and great company. We covered a lot of ground in the week we were in Bulgaria and he managed to fit it all in. The whole trip was a great success and very well put together, thanks to you both.

Our tour of Bulgaria was the proverbial “trip of a lifetime”, meticulously planned by Valentina at Magic Tours and brilliantly executed by our outstanding guide Stancho. For those considering a trip, perhaps the most important thing to know is that this small country of only seven million people is a marvelous blend of Western and Eastern cultures with a very rich history and some of the oldest towns in Europe. Bulgaria is a land of scenic mountains and natural wonders with a mostly urban lifestyle as well as hiking trails, ski lodges and Black Sea beach resorts. From prehistoric caves with early art and writing to ancient, historic and sacred sites of Thracians, Greeks, Romans and early Christians, to a host of museums, monasteries, and monuments from the Communist era, we were able to see it all on this 21 day trip. The itinerary developed by Magic Tours was definitely rich and intriguing while Stancho knew everyone and everything about Bulgaria and easily accommodated our occasional personal desires that developed as we traveled and learned more about the country. He was able to obtain opera tickets for us in Plovdiv making our visit there even more enjoyable. The hotels varied in style and décor with the specific region of the country; but all provided very friendly service and excellent accommodations. The Bulgarian breakfast, no matter what region of the country, was always an especially inspiring way to begin our day. Stancho provided excellent restaurant recommendations in every town we visited as well as information about local food and craft beer specialties. Ice cream and pastries were superb! We also discovered the excellence of Bulgarian wine and were able to visit an outstanding winery in Melnick, chat with the owner’s daughter, and receive information about ordering her father’s wine from our home in Germany. Everything about our trip was exceptionally good - the relaxed pace, food and wine, sites visited, outstanding guide and driver, and hospitality of the Bulgarian people. This 21 day tour is a perfect way to experience Bulgaria.
