We did a 2-days snowshoe hike in Rila National Park in March 2022. The hike took us 6 hours on the first and approximately 4.5 hours on the second day, which was pretty challenging (and I would recommend it only if you're in good physical condition) but absolutely worth it! The views were amazing and getting to spend two days in the untouched nature of the snow covered Rila mountains, far away from the bustle of the everyday life, was priceless.
We visited the Skakavitsa waterfall (still completely frozen at the time), walked past the 7 Rila Lakes and ascended to the Otovitsa and Haramiyata peaks. My favourite part, though, was walking across the mountain ridge with stunning views of the 7 Rila Lakes, Vitosha, Rila and even Pirin Mountains. The weather was sunny but we had strong winds on the second day. Winter hiking in such conditions can be dangerous (be sure to have good hiking equipment!) but we felt safe with our experienced guide Velko who was at all times happy to explain about the mountains and beyond and was a very pleasant company.
The overnight in the hut was a unique experience, which I would absolutely recommend. We were greeted by the hut keeper Georgi who played on the traditional Rhodopi bag pipe and prepared us a delicious dinner and breakfast. The hut itself is beautifully decorated and being there we had the feeling time has stopped. The atmosphere was relaxed and harmonious and so much different than anything else we experienced in Bulgaria - it's really a world of its own up there.

All in all, it was an amazing experience. Even before the tour we were impressed by the good communication - our first contact, Kiril, promptly answered every question we had (even though he was in Morocco at the time) and even helped us find accommodation in Sapareva Banya as well as gave us useful tips on restaurants and much more. The guidance was professional and for the 2 days with Velko in the mountains we didn't have to worry about anything.

Thanks again and keep on with the great job!!

6 days of hiking to the ridges and summits of Bulgaria were a magnificent and special experience. In part of the trek we used snowshoes, which made the journey even more joyful. Kiril the guide was so professional, his wide knowledge about the history and geography of the area together with his skills as a professional hiker made us feel like we are in good and confidant hands. Thank u!

on a 6-day journey in the snowy mountain ridges of Bulgaria, Kiril has led us safely and professionally.
With all my heart i recommend Kiril, a professional and knowledgeable guide. it was clear that thorough planning and thought were invested, to make sure that the tracks are suitable for the changing weather and the trails conditions.
All this was done pleasantly, with humor and grace.
it was a perfect trip!

We had a group for a trekking trip across Rila and Pirin, aranged and co-guided with Kiril from Azimut.
Everything was extremely well organized and went smooth. Kiril is exceptionally knowledgeable and good hearted person, took care of everything till the small detail, we felt we couldn't get a better care.

Azimut tours has proved to be a very serious and organized company.
Our guide was Velko. He's really cool guy and helpful. He led us on a beautiful hike in the Rila Mountain. He explained to us the history of Bulgaria and gave us a load of tips about the city! We have spent a really nice day in his company 😄

This is my first time in real snow. I had an amazing time! Kiril was very professional and organized. He explained but not too much, listened to the people and had plan B and even plan C, due to unexpected weather conditions.
Highly recommended!

Our tour with Nikola started off with a guide who wasn’t prepared. The van arrived late (he did call and let us know 👍🏼) and wasn’t ready as the driver had to spend 15 minutes moving his personal stuff around so we could all fit, while telling us to “be patient” when we offered to help him. We stopped at a petrol station and grocery store while he got stuff for the trip, since we’re already prepared. He questioned us multiple times if we had enough food and we assured him WE were fine. He spent at least 15 minutes talking to the worker at the petrol station, AFTER filling the car up, which we found was wasting our time.
Upon arrival at Rila Mountains, we took the chairlift up, and decided on our plan. We finally told Nikola we wanted to see at least one lake since that’s what we came here for, but he encouraged us to do other things since the weather was bad. We finally made our way to the first lake, after him taking us off trail multiple times because he “knew a shortcut”. We made it to the lakes with 2 of us using google maps/satellite to do so. Nikolas phone had died, which we believe was a safety hazard since he was our guide. He seemed clueless at multiple occasions while on trail, we took another one of his shortcuts and had to cross a raging river by taking our shoes off and wading knee deep through, this wasn’t on course.
We finally made it back to the hut and left for the spa. At the spa, Nikola and the worker talked about the plan but they both were having trouble with translations which seemed odd. We spent a good amount of time trying to figure out what they offered and for what price. Finally we stepped up and decided on the pools only and got on with our spa day.

The next day we emailed the company and put in our complaints. We were told to take it up with Viator for a refund because they could not. Kiril replied agreeing with us and that they would do an investigation (this mainly because our guide had been smoking weed on the chairlift and even told us it wasn’t legal here). He said some harsh words about his own guide, which we think was unprofessional from a business standpoint.
So we took our complaint to viator LIKE HE TOLD US TO and when they approached him he changed some of his responses. I had already forwarded the original Email to viator so they could see our conversation. He made it seem like we were trying to scam the company by asking for a refund. He also took out his personal reply to us about Nikola coming to work with red eyes.
He also recommended that we called the police while with Nikola, why would any group of young women do this?! It would’ve made the day even worse/longer dealing with foreign police, etc.

I personally wouldn’t recommend this company as we had a terrible day, then when we sent our concerns we were redirected to another company and then accused of trying to scam. The whole ordeal was extremely unprofessional.

Lately, I took an 8-days guided trip to Bulgaria visiting some of the most beautiful places
this country is blessed with. Kiril was our Bulgarian guide, and I'm very happy about it. Kiril knows the right places, the right people, the nature and the culture, which make the trip more accurate and pleasant. He is a very welcoming and warm person, that will always be there to share and help. Great way of getting to know the Bulgarians!

This year I visited Bulgaria for the first time in my life.
I've been travelling with a group and Kiril was our Bulgarian guide. It was a real pleasure to hike in Balkan Mountains. It was in October, but suddenly snow felt on the first day of the trip, gorgeous white views of the nature took my breath..
Kiril took us to the Seven lakes day trip, to Rila mountains and more. Kiril did his best to make us feel the Bulgarian atmosphere, by taking the group to local places with folk music and tasty local dishes. A real Balkan experience!! Thank u, Kiril :)
