This church is an insult to Christianity: It claims to be open daily 8-17:30, but I went at 17:00, and again at 11 and 14:30, all being rejected by the old door keeper with a straight face. No event was happening at the time of my visit and the door was not locked. I've never been to a church that rejects visitors like this one.

The man in charge of the items at the entrance like candles and so on is extremely rude and makes a tourist feel terrible due to his bad manners. Religion is a concept that should welcome any community in today's world but this man is full of hatred towards tourists and shows his disrespect explicitly. The authority should find a solution for this man lacking many things. This beautiful structure and house of religion does not deserve this notoriety. Shame.

Cathedral itself is gorgeous, but the man at the door turns people away. Apparently, my look was irreverent. (This is the first time I been prevented going inside an Orthodox church!) No service and no one in attendance. I guess if you want to step inside, you have to dress in a suit...even in +40 degree weather.

I thought it might be Catholic from the outside, but when I looked it up, it was Serbian Orthodox Church.
Admission is 2 km. The photos inside were not taken because photography is prohibited.
Inside, it was beautiful and interesting, but I don't think I would recommend it to anyone else.

A level you might want to go to if you are interested.

The Cathedral Church of the Nativity of Theotokos is the largest Serbian Orthodox church in Sarajevo and one of the largest in the Balkans. Built in eastern Baroque style, the building conforms to Western Christianity cathedral designs, it otherwise conforms to Serbo-Byzantine ground plan and interior structure. The interior decorations are a mixture of Byzantine and Baroque. The most dramatic features of the exterior are the bell tower and five domes. The bell tower is topped with a bulbous Baroque. The central dome is not centred when viewed from the exterior, but is centred on the interior space. It’s also much larger than the other four subsidiary domes.

The interiors are much smaller than the exterior would suggest, but similar in plan to Byzantine churches. The ceilings are decorated with stars against a deep blue background and supported by Romanesque arches on Corinthian columns. Like all Orthodox churches, the iconostasis is at the front of the church and designed in Baroque with paintings representing Orthodox saints, Orthodox monarchs and Jesus in the central panel, all painted in Baroque style. The walls are not copiously decorated like many Orthodox cathedral, but mostly decorated on the columns and arches with slavic geometric patterns . One of the more unusual features is a spiral staircase wrapped around a supporting column leading to a pulpit.

This impressive church is right off the pedestrian walkway across from a park. There are many pretty details in its architecture, so it's worth the short detour in order to view it.

This should also be a must for all Sarajevo visitors. Formerly Sarajevo was called the European Jerusalem, as there is religious buildings from Catholics, Muslims, Jews and Orthodox around. Unfortunately most of the orthodox People were forced to leave this predominantly Muslim town. Therefore it is important that this church was renovated and is being visited as a sign of religious multiculturism

Congregational Church in Sarajevo is one of te largest Orthodox churches in the Balkans. The church is located in the center of the city, right next to the Faculty of Economics, on the right side of the river Miljacka. This cathedral is dedicated to the Birth of Holy Mother of God.

During the war, this church was not damaged. However, because of the years that have passed, reconstruction was performed after the war and from donation of Greece.

The Serbian Orthodox Cathedral is large and beautiful. The breath-taking inside makes one feel they have entered the world beyond. It is just a short visit, but well worth the time. Buildt in 1863, none of the Orthodox Churches suffered damage from the 1991-95 war.

Different church to others, well maintained and clean looking building, in use and so close to other attractions. Amazing how much you can see in 1 day with everything so close together
