Exceptional Tours and Kindness

I don't often take tours, but when I went to to Balkans for the first time, my particular fascination with the region and its history led me to seek guidance. I signed up for the Total Siege Tour in Sarajevo because the logistics of finding my way to all the places on my own was turning out to be a lot of trouble. The tour ended up being perfect as not only did I see the War Tunnel Museum, but our small group received personal guidance throughout it. The guide was knowledgeable and professional while offering a unique personal perspective.

Where the tour company proved to be truly exceptional was in their care of me when a connecting tour I booked wasn't available as I was the only booked for that day (and as is only fair, there was a much higher price for operating a tour for one person that was not in my budget). The office staff went out of their way to contact another tour company to get me from Sarajevo to Belgrade. When they weren't operating on that day either, SFT contacted me, fully prepared to personally help me book a bus. I had been traveling solo for a month at this point, and the offer of help was overwhelmingly kind. I think that a lot of other companies would simply offer me their regrets and move on. I also don't write reviews very often, but I wanted to repay the kindness and to refer fellow travelers to a company that is truly exceptional.

Sometimes taking tours can be a perfect thing to do especially when you have a chance to hear all the stories from local people that have a personal experience in events such as siege of Sarajevo. Bringing you closer to understanding our history is more than just visiting all of the important places, it's getting you to, when you close your eyes, see and feel different kind of emotions. Hearing your kind words make us so proud and gives us energy to be even better. We were more than happy to give you all the needed help, it was such a pleasure. Exploring Beautiful Bosnia with Sarajevo Funky Tours

As a solo traveler, I was looking for group tours in order to maximize both my time and my money in order to explore as much as I could of beautiful Bosnia & Herzegovina. Prior to my trip, I emailed Funky Tours and let them know my dates of travel and what tours I was interested in. They needed a certain number of people to run each tour and I was so grateful to their staff for making sure I was able to go on every tour on my list during my time in Bosnia! First, I transferred overland from Belgrade to Sarajevo via the UNESCO Full Day Tour. It was a great way to see some sights in eastern Bosnia and western Serbia that I might not have seen otherwise. I also did the Mostar and Four Cities of Herzegovina Tour; the Travnik, Jajce, & Pliva Lake Tour; the Sarajevo Walking Tour; and the Siege Tour, which was crucial to understanding Sarajevo's relatively recent history. While the days were long (many sites were several hours away, with short stops along the way to the major sites), the tours were a great way to see a lot in a short amount of time. If I had it to do over again, I would do the Mostar and Four Cities Tour and have them drop me off in Mostar in order to travel on to Montenegro. This would have saved time in backtracking from Mostar to Sarajevo and back again in traveling on to Kotor. My time with the fabulous Funky Tours guides (Aoub, Adnan, Amala, and Damir who I traveled with twice) made my time in beautiful Bosnia that much more enjoyable. (I would also like to give a special shout out to Nadine in the office who let me use her laptop to work on a job application.) I learned so much about Bosnian history and culture, saw so much of the beautiful country, and felt like I made some new friends along the way. I was genuinely sad to leave Bosnia and can't wait to come back! I can't recommend Funky Tours highly enough!

Sometimes during the winter and the low season we usually need a certain number of people for some of the tours, but nevertheless we always give our best to make it worth your money and time. We are so lucky to have a chance to show you the best of Bosnia and Herzegovina to you. Thank you so much for deciding to do these tours with us and explore all of the natural beauty, learning about our history and enjoying the company of the local people. Mostar city has unique charm that make people come for more after every visit. :) We are so grateful for your kind words and it was our pleasure to help you in any possible way. Sarajevo Total Siege Tour

To visit Sarajevo and to get back to its most difficult history felt like a human obligation for me who already lives in one of post-Yugoslavian countries and also right moment to open this history page to my son. Our guide was an amazing, charismatic man, who described Sarajevo and its history not only with passion and deep feelings for his country, but also spoke from his own perspective of war veteran and Siege survivor. These few hours of city tour we have spent together with Mr. Adnan were a very moving journey through single station of Sarajevo struggle and have left many unforgettable pictures in our memory.  Mr Adnan is very good word painter - he touches all senses through the way he speaks and doesn't confuse with overgrowth of emotions or opinions. He is very neutral and leaves space for thinking, for getting deep into places and doesn't judge from any perspective. Huge personality and such a great, warm heart!! It was just the most precious live history lesson ever and honor for us to be there with a perfect guide..  I am looking forward to get back to BIH and to have opportunity to experience more about its places, history and nature! Funky Tours is my only choice for any other visiting option for the next time!

Fantasic! Top Notch!

My friend and I used Sarajevo Funky Tours for a tour to Medjugorje, Mostar, Blagaj, Kravice waterfalls, and a few other stops. The initial tour communication was quick and professional. The actual tour itself was a fantastic all day adventure! Out guide, Arna, was extremely knowledgeable, personable, intelligent, and friendly. She is so much more than a tour guide- she has the insight, history, experience, and love of BiH to make really astute and interesting conversation. It wasn't just superficial or rote memorization from a guidebook. She knows the places, people, and culture. Furthermore, she was flexible with what we wanted to see and spend time visiting and offered suggestions for future adventures. I would absolutely recommend this company and I look forward to booking another excursion with them.

I went to the Balkans for the first time through a study abroad program from my university in California CSULB. We were a group of 20 people and Funky Tours managed to fulfill every of our necessaries, they took care of each one of us. We had an itinerary ready of everything we were going to do but they also personalized the experience once we were there if we ask for it. We were there for a month and they accommodated us with hotels, transportation, airport transfers, etc. I am amazed of how much we did in one month, we were in over 10 cities all over Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our tour guides Skender, Emir, Edna and Ema were amazing. They went above and beyond with our requests, they always had a positive attitude and you can tell they love what they do. They taught us so much about the history, culture, and language of the Balkans, I was blown away by their knowledge and passion for their region. I had so many questions and they always responded to me in a respectful manner. We had so many fantastic experiences including skiing in the Olympic mountains in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I recommend Funky Tours 1000% they are trustworthy, kind, hardworking people. You will love them too.

Private 14 day tour across Bosnia & Herzegovina-Solo

Sarajevo Funky Tours is by far the best tour agency you can find. Impressed by their organized and detailed website, I requested a solo 14 day private tour across Bosnia & Herzegovina, specifically focusing on locations off the beaten path with Accommodations and Food included.

Ema and the Funky Tours team were able to create an amazing itinerary, which included stops in over 25 towns and cities! With the guidance of my amazing tour guides, Deni, Senad, and Adnan, I was able to explore the country's larger towns like Sarajevo, Mostar, and Banja Luka, but also stop in smaller towns such as Prnjavor, Drvar, and Stolac! My guides even made a stop in my family's hometown, Čapljina, so that I could visit relatives! The tour guides at Funky Tours have in-depth knowledge and expertise in the history and culture of Bosnia & Herzegovina, and were able to answer any questions I had about the country's past.

From the moment I arrived in Sarajevo until the day I left, Funky Tours took care of everything, so that I didn't need to worry once. If you consider visiting the Balkan region, I without a doubt recommend organizing your travels with Sarajevo Funky Tours.

3D2N introduction to Bosnia made easy and enjoyable

Did a 3D/2N tour from Dubrovnik to Split via Sarajevo with Funky. They organized everything and made it easy to understand Bosnia's long history and complicated present without worrying about the logistics since they were very responsive and took care of everything, even for our more complicated itinerary. We did 1 day tour through Herzegovina to Sarajevo, 1 day in Sarajevo including a walking tour and Siege tour, then a 1 day tour to Split. The travel days were long but the driving time was made much richer by getting to interact so much with our amazing guides and ask them all of our questions in between the multiple stops. We also saw and learned about so much Bosnian history we would not have seen otherwise, plus got to see some beautiful parts of the country, including some amazing waterfalls and beautiful green hills. The food was amazing-probably the best meals of a 2 week trip through the region. Funky Tours and our guides made the visit so much richer and I would highly recommend using them and visiting Bosnia.

Great tours, super knowledgable guides, amazing country!

With only a limited time in Bosnia, I chose to spend most of my time on tours and had been recommended Funky Tours by a friend who had visited a few years earlier and I was so glad I did!

I booked the tours by email and arranged to pay on arrival as that was easier, Edna and her team could not have been more accommodating if they tried. I did the siege tour on the Friday, Srebrenica on Saturday and the Mostar and Herzegovina 4 cities tour on the Sunday. I had Almir for the Friday and Saturday and I've never in my time travelling met somebody so knowledgeable and passionate about his country. No question was too much and the insights he was able to provide on Bosnia, especially the situation in the 90s, has left a lasting impression.

Travel destroys all prejudice and it's so important that Bosnia's story is not forgotten. I had Anis on the Sunday and as a similar age to myself, he was incredibly knowledgable and passionate and full of surprising facts and insights into a country he clearly loved and took pride in showing me about. I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 tours and geniuinely feel like I left Bosnia as friends, knowing so much more. Both Almir and Anis spoke excellent English, were willing and able to answer questions and drove safely in challenging weather conditions.

You must use Funky Tours when in Bosnia, I can't wait to return!

Amazing trip through the Balkans with Funky Tours

My small group of 3 used Funky Tours for ~10-12 days for a trip through the Balkans. We did a combination of 1/2 day tours and connecting tours that included Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia and Kosovo. Our group was myself and 2 18y/o’s celebrating their high school graduation. We had an amazing time thanks to Funky Tours. We interacted with many of Funky Tours staff, Skender (even his parents), Ema (who did such a great job at answering all my emails and helping to arrange the perfect tour for us), multiple different guides (who were all very professional and knowledgeable.) We spent the most time with Jasmin and Enis. The girls were suitably impressed by Jasmin’s excellent driving skills and ability to parallel park a van in a small space. Enis was always up to answering our questions, occasionally using his excellent photography skills to help me take pictures of the girls (we took graduation photos at most of our stops) and a pleasure to have as a guide. I highly recommend Funky Tours and will use them again if
I am in the Balkan region again.

Efficient, energetic, engaging

Did multiple tours with Funky Tours and they are great! Young, professional staff are easy to relate to and also very good at sharing their stories. I did a hiking tour and was so impressed that I signed up for a city tour. They’re also really good at arranging last minute, offbeat requests (like tickets to a European Conference League playoff!). Strongly recommended!
