Our explorer scout unit (group of 15) from Northern Ireland visited Bosnia-Hercegovina for two weeks in July 2024 . Sarajevo Funky Tours helped to arrange the second week of our trip, organizing all of our hostels, transport and tours including Sarajevo, Srebrenica, Stolac, Blagaj, Dervish Tekke and Kravica Falls and arranging some meals with local hosts . Their choice of hostels and restaurants was excellent and everything was very reasonably priced and great value for money. Our guides were very knowledgeable and really went out of their way to help us- nothing was too much trouble for them and by the end of our stay we really felt as though we had been visiting friends- their approachability and attention to detail was second to none and we can very highly recommend them to any other youth groups or families considering a trip to Bosnia-Hercegovina. The tourist sector is less established here than in some other European destinations, but Sarajevo Funky Tours really is up there with the very best we have experienced anywhere else on our travels throughout Europe.

I worked with Funky Tours to create a private tour of Kosovo with very limited lead time due to finding some unexpected personal time in the region. Funky Tours was incredibly easy to work with, responsive, and the logistics were handled perfectly. I literally just had to show up and then was fully free to absorb the experience, learn, and reflect on the significant history of Kosovo.

I was lucky enough to be paired with Ilir, who was a wonderful guide and very generous with his extensive knowledge and experience. He is very personable and absolutely nails the balance between being informative and offering conversation, as well as giving guests time to take things in or just enjoy the scenery.

Ilir and Funky Tours were also incredibly accommodating and responsive to any requests to modify the itinerary and, after getting to know me, adjust to my pace and make the most use of time.

I have the utmost respect for him and Funky Tours and I'm very grateful for the time I spent in Kosovo--though maybe not on your list of traditional tourist destination, it is a fascinating country full of warm, generous people. Kosovo deserves to be understood and appreciated.

Emala's (?spelling) tour was like walking around the city with an old friend! WHY would you want to pay for a large group when you could have the personal touch?? A general walking tour is free with a little extra if you want to be shown and sample traditional Bosnian food and drink. Again this tour was only 4 of us and we were treated to personal stories alongside the history. The museums ( visited separately from the tour) explain the daily impact of the 1992-1995 war on the Sarajevo citizens and cannot fail to have an effect. There is so much to see

Fabulous free walking tour with our young, knowledgeable guide. We'd been in the city for a few days and seen some of the sights already but the guide told us lots of things we had missed. The history of the area is very complicated but the guide helped simplify it and make sense. We also got a really clear sense of where everything in this very walkable city is. Wish we had done more tours with this company. Although the tour is advertised as free and there is no pressure to tip- please remember the guides and tour company are working hard and need to live. I would suggest paying what you would expect to pay for a couple of hours with a guide at home- at least £10 per person.

We were a group of 14 and thoroughly enjoyed a free walking tour I would highly recommend. Our guide Stephan was excellent, and his humour added a great light touch to the difficult historical war events discussed. We visited many key sites and Stephan explained their significance in the historical development of Sarajevo. Other points of interest we could visit during our stay were offered with recommendations. Funky Tours were also happy to help us plan other bespoke options during our stay. Thank you Stephan and Funky Tours!

We had the most amazing experience touring Kosovo with Funky Tours! My mom and I decided we wanted to do this at the last minute and they were able to accommodate us with a fantastic itinerary for our two-day tour. Our guide (Ilir) is a local survivor of the war in Kosovo and an ethnographer and was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and culture, both personally and professionally. He took great care of us and drove us all around the country, showing us Pristina, Prizren, Gjakova, Mitrovica, and Prekaz. We learned about how life for the ethnic Albanians changed so dramatically before and during the war. As Americans, we found it so healing to learn what a compassionate and tolerant religion Islam is. We really appreciated the ability to ask difficult and sensitive questions and to receive such straightforward and in-depth answers. This experience greatly enhanced our understanding of this small Balkan country and this region of Europe. We love Kosovo, plan to return, and would encourage others to explore and learn about the place. It is a very safe and welcoming country. We were surprised to find such a positive attitude toward Americans, and enjoyed seeing sculptures of Bill Clinton, Madeleine Albright, and Bob Dole! It was also very easy to get by speaking only English. Funky Tours is a great way to immerse yourself in a culture and get a realistic perspective on the history. We so appreciate the existence of this company and the unique opportunities they offer.

I participated in a catamaran trip in Croatia organized by Funky Tours and my experience was great: excellent responsiveness during the planning and reservation process, and professionality both prior and during the tour. The experience of sailing the catamaran was amazing, visiting beautiful spots in the Kornati Archipelago and Kkra National Park that are off the beaten track. The skipper was experienced and the host was thoughtful, professional and friendly. I loved the freshly cooked food on board. As a solo traveler, I felt safe and in good hands. Would definitely recommend the catamaran experience with Funky tours and hope to try other tours offered by them.

Funky Tours organized our 10 day trip in 2019 in Bosnia, Croatia, and Montenegro and we had such great experience with dealing with the company and the itinerary that they made, that we were sure we will be going back. Plan was for 2020 but then the pandemic. We were able to finally go back end of May 2024 for another 10 day trip. Ema again did not disappoint in making our itinerary and she and the company are so easy and pleasant to communicate with. We started in Sarajevo then eastern Bosnia and Serbia. We then went to Zagreb, then Slovenia, Istrian region, and Zadar in Croatia, then back to Sarajevo. The tour was so organized and everything was perfect! Our driver and guide Enis is such a pleasant, friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable young man. You can never go wrong with this company! Our group is hoping to go back to the Balkans again in the near future and excited as to what Funky Tours will recommend at that time.

I've just come back from a really enjoyable and educational trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina arranged by the lovely people at Funky Tours. I was based in Sarajevo for the week and did a number of day trips around Bosnia and Herzegovina all arranged by Funky Tours. The guides on the trips were all very friendly and informative and many of them had lived through and served in the war in the 90s and had very interesting life stories. The girls in the office were very efficient and fun and put together my itinerary and communicated very well throughout. The tour buses provided were comfortable and everything ran to time. Sarajevo is an incredible city full of soul, vibrancy and resilience. Do yourself a favour and go and visit the city and take the opportunity to travel around this very beautiful country. If you enjoy places with history, scenery and cultural contrast you will enjoy it no end. It's often the case that the friendliness and warmth of the people make a visit to a country extra memorable and that was certainly the case with my visit to Bosnia. If you are thinking of going have a chat with the guys at Funky Tours and I'm sure they will go out of their way to help you.

My experience with Funky Tours who I used when in Bosnia was overwhelmingly positive. Communications with the office prior to arrival was top notch- everyone seemed to go above and beyond in their effort to help (shout out here to Amela, Ema, Edna).

Funky Tours facilitated my airport transfer on arrival and I did two of their tours: Sarajevo Walking Food Tour and the Total Siege Tour.

Sarajevo Waking Food Tour: My personal guide was Emin and he was a fountain of knowledge. He took me on a fantastic walk through the city while sampling local delicacies. He was personable, intelligent, articulate and the whole experience was top notch.

I have done a separate review for the Siege Tour.

Thank you Funky Tours for your kind help and amazing tours!
