What an experience! Lost for words =)
Jan 2021
I had to wait a long time until I could finally do the cooking because of travel restrictions. After a cooking experience in Albania I had decided that cooking was definitely the greatest way to discover the culture of a country. And what a revelation when I finally was able to go to Mersihas and Mustafas home! They more than confirmed my thoughs: I didn’t only learn to cook amazing (also vegetarian!) Bosnian dishes (no, not only burek, the Bosnian cuisine has so much more to offer!!), I also learned a lot about Sarajevo and especially the time during the Bosnian war. This meant a lot to me because I’m a real history addict and I doubt that a normal city tour could have offered me the same. But most importantly, I made terrific new friends! Mersiha and Mustafa offer cookings for a living. You could think they do it purely out of joy and passion for making new friends, enjoying good food together and broadening everybody’s horizons. I have rarely met such amazing, funny and positive people. Their cookings are a mix of a very professional cooking class, mixed with an amazing time with your friends in a familiar atmosphere with a stunning view over the capital. I’m so glad I found their website back in December 2019! :-)

AWESOME experience!!
Nov 2020
This is a MUST when you come to Bosnia!! My evening with them made my time in Sarajevo much more personal. I had the nicest time with Mersiha and Mustafa. They picked me up at my hotel and brought me to their SUPER clean home overlooking the city where the view was amazing.
Learning to cook traditional Bosnian food was a really cool experience. I learned some small little things about why food is made certain ways and how not to waste anything. You can participate as much or as little as you choose. It was an awesome experience just sitting in their home sharing stories, rakia, wine, apple juice they cold pressed, cooked traditional dishes from food, all from their garden.
The food was SO good! I am now spoiled because “we” made the best byrek ever (Mersiha did most of the work since I am kitchen challenged! Its been a week now and I am still craving the Dolma. I would do this again in a heartbeat!!
Super special afternoon and evening. So blessed to have found my new friends and to have had this unique experience. My only regret is I wished I had brought them something since after all I was in their home. Next time I will!

Highlight of our trip to the Balkans
Nov 2019
What a great time I had with my daughter and another couple from NY. Mersi was so attentive to our questions and interests in cooking fun Bosnian meals. I'm in the food business at home and I never get tired of learning new techniques and ideas for cooking which Mersi unselfishly provided. I've learned so much about saving food as never before :)I recreated all the dishes at home for my friends and all of them went home happy with full bellies :D We also took a tour with Mustafa and the only thing I can say is well done!!! That was one of the best tours that we ever had. We learned so much about the survival and life during the war with personal touch and stories that makes you realize how your perspective towards life is changing.

Thank you so much guys for amazing experience and congrats on your award, well deserved!

Absolute recommendation! :)
Nov 2019
Congratulations to a really, really good job! 😍 We joined the cooking class about one years ago and we still benefit from the great experience!!
The atmosphere is really relaxed and both are so friendly and kind! The explanations were absolutely clear and helpful even one year after the cooking class when trying to prepare bureks on our own! 😊
We can absolutely recommend the class since it’s an extremely nice experience: on the one hand we were taught a lot about the Bosnian kitchen and on the other hand the both were so kind to share their experience about the siege of Sarajevo.
Furthermore, most of the products are selfmade... from the best apple juice we ever had to the tomatoes or mangold we needed for cooking.
We spent a great night with amazing food, absolutely delicious wine, a fascinating view over Sarajevo and really good company!
Definitely one of our highlights of a three-weeks Balkan trip!
Thank you very, very much Mersiha and Mustafa for great memories! 🙏🏼🤗

After 2.5 years I finally learned to make Burek, and I wish I did it sooner. Mustafa and Mersiha were exceptionally gracious hosts who opened their home, talents, and lives for our benefit. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to spend any time in Sarajevo.

Lovely Day in the Hills Above Sarajevo
Jun 2020
I had the loveliest day at Mersiha and Mustafa's house learning about Bosnian cooking. We were high in the hills above Sarajevo and arrived to an amazing treat of fresh homemade juice, warm baked bread, local cheeses, and jams. From there we proceeded to make stuffed peppers and onions and grape leaves and also learned the art of making burek-the national dish. Throughout there was great company, wine, and lots of learning. It was a true pleasure. I highly recommend to anyone looking for an adventure in Sarajevo.

Had such a great day cooking with Mersiha and Mustafa.
We went up to their house in the hills, with a stunning view over Sarajevo.

Was really treated like a guest in their house, it felt like going to a friends place for they day.
We made Burak and Dolma. Both of which we’ve attempted afterwards at home. The Burak is a bit tricky but worth it. The Dolma we now make quite frequently. And is delicious.

Have done a few cookery classes in different places around the world but this was truly a special and welcoming experience.
After eating our goodies and having a few more drinks we stayed and chatted to Mersiha and Mustafa about there life growing up in Bosnia Herzegovina.

Highly recommend the experience worth every Mark($,€,£).
If I was in Sarajevo again I’d definitely do it again. Need to perfect my Burak technique.

Exceptionally Authentic and Delicious Experience!
Dec 2019
I have taken cooking classes in Greece, Japan, Belgium, and elsewhere around the world, but never in my life have I had an experience as wonderful as this one with Mersiha! Hands down, one of the most authentic, inspiring, and delicious travel experiences of my life. The cooking lesson was peppered with Mersiha's amazing and inspiring stories of life in Sarajevo, of the horrors she experienced during the siege, and of the success she has started to have building this business with her husband, Mustafa. Each step of the cooking process was expertly explained, with helpful tutorials and suggestions (and ample local spirits to enjoy). But the real treat is the authenticity with which Mersiha approaches her lessons. I felt like a part of her family, sharing stories over a glass of wine while her and I (and her wonderful mother!) all cooked together in her kitchen, with a view of Sarajevo out the window. This is why we seek out these opportunities. It is why we travel at all, really. And this is one experience you absolutely must not miss out on! I cannot recommend it enough!

Most Fun and Delicious Thing I Did in Bosnia
Feb 2020
Mersiha is a fantastic cook and now I sort of am, too. :) We made two dishes: Burek, one of the two national dishes that's a stuffed meat or vegetable pie in filo dough, and stuffed vegetables roasted in tomato sauce. We made the filo dough from scratch. It started out as a little ball and ended up as a super thin sheet of dough that she stretched over all 4 corners of the table, with lots of tips and tricks for getting it that thin without poking a finger through the dough and how to not panic if you do make a hole. I'd had both of these dishes in several restaurants in Sarajevo, but Mersiha's (and mine) were so much better than anything I'd previously tasted that they kind of redefined them for me. Mersiha and Mustafa are sweet and interesting people who grow all of their own produce. Sharing time with them in their home and kitchen felt like being with good friends. I highly recommend this class!

Best burek/pita we have ever eaten!
Jan 2020 • Friends
This was the first time we booked a cooking class and we loved it from the very first minute! Mersiha and Mustafa are lovely people and we felt welcome and cosy the entire time. As we are originally from Bosnia, we can say this was the best pita/burek we have ever eaten! So crunchy, so delicious, so good! Can‘t wait to try Mersiha‘s recipes back home! Thank you so much!
