This is a lovely green space to have a rest, there is plenty of seating, also remnants of a Ottoman graveyard with ruins of old tombstones scattered around. The Park is also home to the Children of Sarajevo Monument. Definitely worth a visit.

This is small green and very popular park near the main shopping street and close to both the city centre and the old town with plenty of places to sit and some interesting monuments - the most moving of which is the memorial to the children killed during the war.

This small park, located on Marsala Tita, is a very pleasant place to stop and relax. There are an abundance of trees and the Memorial for Children Killed during Siege is located on the side of the park facing Marsala Tita. In the park you see see a lot of short, white stones rising from the ground. A Bosnian student approached me and informed me they are old grave stones, and that the ones with a large knob on signify that the person was a very learned man. Opposite the park is the BBI shopping centre, which is air conditioned and has numerous cafés to escape the heat.

Walking around the Old Historic Center and the modern section
of Sarajevo, I got tired and rested here. I enjoyed the fresh air and the statues on display at this park.

This is a small park but beautiful. There are benches to sit and relax. The recent Balkans war memorial of the father"s sculpture is excellent but sad.

This is a lovely small park in the city centre with some poignant memorials. Lots of seating to take a moment to reflect.

This is the largest park in Sarajevo. I visited to see the Memorial to the Children of Sarajevo who died during the War of Independence which was moving.
I also was also moved by the story behind the statue of a father, Nermine Dodi. He implored his son to surrender to the Serbs so that his son would be safe. The bodies of the father and son were later discovered at a mass grave site.
What I hadn't realized is that there would be headstones which are there because this was once the site of a Muslim cemetery.
Nine police officers who were killed in the park during the War of independence are also buried in the park near Trampina Street.

Veliki means Big. However the park is not very big (circumference is less than 1 square km). Perhaps by Bosnian standards it is. Valleys in Bosnia often are just too narrow for large parks. Striking I found the many Ottoman style tomb stones spread throughout the park. Maybe it ones was a cemetery... Loved the shady trees.

The memorial in front I found nice from an artistic point of view, but I do not see why there should be a memorial just for child victims of the Siege. Old people, women, men, youngsters all fell victim of atrocious terror by the VRS.

There is much to see in this park if you do your homework. The Sarajevo Memorial for Children Killed during the Siege as well as the Nermine Dodi statue (the father crying for the son killed during the massacre of Srebrenica). The park is also a green and serene place to sit and reflect.

Despite being called the Great Park, it is quite small. It is located in the centre of Sarajevo. It's green, fresh, lots of trees, it's great to walk around. There are several installations dedicated to the victims of the war and old Ottoman tombstones - very unusual. There are also many benches for leisurely recreation.
