Unfortunately it was hard to see when it was underneath snow. On the first day we were there you could see the edges of it and on the second day it was cleared off which was good to see. Sarajevo is a melting pot of cultures and its good to see this reflected by people visiting and taking this place in.

The Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures is the message and marker on Ferhadija Street, where two dominant cultures that once shaped Sarajevo merge. The two being Ottoman and the other the Austro-Hungarians. I’m not sure wha the message is, but pointing out differences IMHO is not helpful.

This is such a lovely concept in a city that really suffered during the 1990s war. It is where the Bascarsija and the newer part of Sarajevo meet along the pedestrian walkway.

Since the Ottoman ruled Bosnia was given to Austria - Hungary in 1878 - there are 2 major influences = in the East part the Ottoman (stone 1 story little constructions, tiny streets). The West is clearly Habsburg - reminding you of Viena, Prague, Ljubljana etc.

Those 2 different influences meet at this "Meeting point of cultures" and create an amazing scenery - if you look at one side - you see a little Istanbul - on the other side of the same spot is a little VIena! But it is just 1 main street! Just look up and turn around!

This spot marks the convergence of cultures of the east and west, and the architecture at this point shows stark contrast as you look in both directions.

To the East, baklava & Turkish delight, to the West, mainly ice cream & Bosnian coffee! A lovely mix of bars & restaurants, open until quite late.

Located in the heart of the main pedestrian street in Bascarsija is a symbolic point where cultures and eras come together. Sarajevo is a melting pot of cultures and religions and is an example of how we should all behave and get along.

Great and interesting to see - place where two cultures meet, nice walk, good to see and take pictures in passing through the city.

During our free walking tour, with Meet Bosnia, (see review), we visited lots of interesting places, it was really cool seeing the meeting of the cultures line, (makes for awesome piccies), as told by our guide, basically bringing two cultures together, east, being Ottoman, (islamic), and west, being Austro-Hungarian, (Christian).
