The academy first served as the first church in 1899 in a Neo-Romanesque-Byzantine style. The building was handed to the University of Sarajevo after the Academy of Fine Arts was established in 1972. The central part of the building still retains the original look of the church with a central dome covered in dark green tiles. There are two symmetric Neo-Romanesque wings extending from the central with what looks like Neo-Moorish decorations where the cornice would be located. An absolutely stunning building. I tried to enter, but it looks like it’s for students and staff only.

I love this place, this view. Amazing architecture of the building and the bridge in front of it. Amazing for taking beautiful pictures and visiting in. It is so modern but yet inside so powerful and meaningful. Amazing!

This fine building stands on the southern bank of the River Miljacka the crossing point is the Festina Lente.
This structure has had an extensive refurbishment considering the damage it sustained during the war.

This amazing looking building stands across from the Festina Lende bridge and is sadly not open to the public - understandble given its purpose. One can but admire it from afar.

Located just across the Festina Lente Bridge, The Academy of Fine Arts is an impressive building. I walked in and was immediately told that it was not open to the public. Originally the building had been an Evangelical Church and had been opened in 1899. Over time the congregation grew smaller and in 1971 it was signed over to the Sarajevo City Council which established a school of fine arts there. It is a beautiful building and definitely a photo opportunity. It is clearly visible whilst walking along the river bank.

This is a beautiful building. An old church converted to a school. The architecture is beautiful. A good place to take photos.

One of my favourite buildings erected during the Austro Hungarian period, an Evangelical church. After WWII there were fewer Evangelists left in the city and so the church was handed over to the city authorities, and today it is used to house the Academy of Fine Arts.

It is a fine building and seems to have a lot happy students, but it is not a museum and not open for public
