- Coryy20Port of Spain, Trinidad4,837 contributionsNo go..no show! When I visited in December there was nothing to see because it seems as though some reconstruction was taking place. The entire perimeter was barricaded and only the top of the roof was visible. Maybe now it's good to visit but it's a pity I didn't get to visit its interior .Visited December 2022Traveled soloWritten August 28, 2023
- T-SGlobetrottersPreston, United Kingdom2,946 contributionsThe views are the only attractionThe building which has an unusual pyramid design was originally built as a memorial museum to Enver Hoxa. After the end of one party rule it was turned into offices and a night club but the whole complex now been empty for several years. There were proposals to turn the building into a shopping centre and work began on this in 2019. Although newly painted and seemingly converted ready for retail, there are no signs of any shops, all work appears to have stopped and the building looks to be the proverbial ‘white elephant’. Most of the area is fenced off but you can walk up to the building on one side. It is worth a visit to climb the 120 steps to the top of the building for its views of the area.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 30, 2023

- Geoff TDoncaster, United Kingdom122 contributionsIt's Not Egypt !!!!The pyramid has been completely refurbished and bears very little resemblance to the original version. I understand it has been under construction for quite a while but is now completed. Get up it and complete that work out. The view is worthwhile. Also so is a trip up the Sky Tower.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 12, 2024

First of all let me apologize to future travelers who might think I'm crazy rating it 5 stars after they visit it. But, I'm a huge fan of Communist mega/crazy edifices like this one and I like to visit them, stare at them and think about the minds who created them. Even my kids thought I went nuts when I brought them here.
The Tirana pyramid is a monster concrete structure set in the center just south across the Rinia park. Built as a museum for Enver Hohxa's "achievements" 3 y after his death, it was never opened for that purpose. Instead, it's a decaying bldg severely time harmed.
It strongly reminds me on the same style edifice of Buzludzha in Bulgaria (set in the middle of nowhere Bulgaria mountains), but this eerie is in capital's downtown.
Besides the decaying pyramid, pay attention to the Peace Bell opposite (read that review).

Renovation is nearing completion after many years of neglect and indecision. Originally meant as a pharaonic tribute to communist leader Enver Hoxha who died in 1985, the pyramid structure housing a museum soon deteriorated into an empty shell after the 1991 collapse of the regime. Anything of value was stolen.
Repurposed, it is envisaged the pyramid will house tech company offices, classrooms and cafes. It will hopefully be completed by the end of this year. From the outside progress looks promising. On panels in front of the building there is an overview of past and present plans.

In 1988 the structure opened as the Enver Hoxha Museum who died in 1988. Originally it was to serve as a museum about the legacy of the dictator, but after the communism in Albania collapsed in 1991 it was used as exhibition center. Since then it went to rack and ruin and nowadays it is discussed what to do: demolish the structure or renovate and use for new purpose - one of the ideas is IT center for youth. Whatever your impression, it is clearly a landmark of Tirana.

Ok, this place is in bad condition, btu with a strong reason. The municipality try to destroy the buildin, so this is the reason for ne invertments in here, but the locals are fighting with the municipality, and they are against the destruction of the building. Very nice thing, Ok, it reminds you about the communism....but this si not a bad thing. The children have to see this and to know their history.
With minimum of investments this building should became the number one attraction in the city.
You can climb until the top, but be careful whe you get down

Probably the best skateboarding spot in the world and is now a desolate wasteland that stands as a testament to Daddy giving his daughter whatever she wanted.

The rotting remains of a costly effort to build something special during darker times in Tirana. See it as an example of a failed government plan.

Not that much to see. Just the building which is more or less falling apart. Nice park in front. at night young people climb it. Looks fun but I am too old for that kind of fun:-)
Would make a great tourist information office or something like that!

Might be nice in the future, but construction walls around it right now. Check back in a year, or two, or ten. Was a museum to honor Communist dictator Hoxha, then a museum, night club, radio station, and a NATO headquarters during Kosova war. Now apparently dilapidated and sealed and graffiti-covered.
