- KentEnglandLifeChatham, United Kingdom2,949 contributionsHistoric Bridge18th-century Ottoman period stone footbridge. The road was the route by which livestock and produce entered the city. The bridge crossed the Lanë stream near the area where butcher shops and leather workers were located. The bridge fell into disrepair when the Lanë was diverted in the 1930s. In the 1990s, the bridge was restored for use by pedestrians. Worth a look if you're in the area.Visited December 2023Traveled soloWritten March 11, 2024

I like that it's non-touristy and is used as a pedestrian bridge by locals. The cobblestones are smooth and I imagine very slippery when wet. Short but interesting.Visited May 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 2, 2024

This is a small bump-backed bridge which was built in the 18th Century. To be honest, there isn’t much to see and you probably won’t need more than ten minutes to have a quick look and snap a few photos. It’s just across the road from the Grand Mosque so you don’t have to go out of your way to visit it. This, plus the fact that there are very few remains of the Ottoman era in Tirana, make it worth a brief visit.

A generous four of five because it is so easy to get too but it is simply a five minute visit... walk across, walk back. It is not so long, like 10 metres. I could have gone 3/5 but today I feel generous and also it is free.
But don't go in the rain as it really is quite slippery.

Built during Ottoman rule (ending in 1912) showing Tirana was part of a developed infrastructure of roads and bridges connecting southeastern Europe. Farmers used to take their cattle to town crossing here, after which it would be slaughtered and meat and hides would be prepared and sold. Testament to history of which so little can still be seen in Tirana.

Spotted it as I walked back to my apartment. Unless you're a disciple of structures built to span physical obstacles without closing the way underneath such as a body of water, valley, or road, for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacle, usually something that can be detrimental to cross otherwise, you're going to completely miss it. Tucked in between the usual 4 storey blocks with weeds and grass growing underneath it.
Maybe I'm just missing the point??

This is a stone bridge from the Ottoman times (a rarity in Tirana). It was once the bridge to cross the stream that no longer runs here, but it does have historical significance so please don't dismiss it as "nothing to see, of no importance).
It is slippery because the stones are so worn and with no hand rails/sides, please do use caution when crossing. Take a walk, cross the bridge, and enjoy it. Think about all the feet that have crossed this bridge over the centuries!

Interesting bridge with a lot of history, the stones are still in good condition and you can walk over it to the other side.

Nice little bridge on the outskirts of the City. Good for a photo, and you can walk over it. Shows the old and new coming together.

Maybe just a quick photo opportunity and move on, one of the few remaining bridges from the ottoman days, so for that reason worth a look and photo.
Thanks certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to see bridge, time has moved on from it.
