Our trip to the museum was made all the more interesting by having a local guide employed by Fun & Adventures - he really knew his "stuff"

The museum is full of incredibly interesting artifacts from ancient and Greek times. Unfortunately for everything that is post ww2 it is either very lacking (almost no mention of communism times or recent times) or not translated to English (madre teresa section and communism terror room). Overall of they dedicated more room to the last 70 years would be a... More

The museum is modern and has a lot of expositions in it. You can follow the history of Albania from ancient times until post WW2. However, if you do not know Albanian, you will be stuck at about year 1000, because 90% of the items afterwards are not translated. There is no AC in the museum, so during the summer... More

Huge and very varied in tone - everything from philately exhibits to gruseome close ups of executed political prisoners. All of Albanian history is covered here. Some of the labelling is excellent and multilingual; some they haven't got round to yet.

It is a well laid out museum with a lot if artifacts and related information (in English). Relics range from prehistoric area to Albanian Independence and beyond. Many relics came from surrounding areas such as Apollonia and Butrint, amazing sites to visit in themselves.

If you'd like to know more about the history of Albania, this is a must see museum, and it is at the best location possible. Some parts of the exhibitions have no English description at all, but still interesting to see.

I love museums, and I didn't go into this one expecting something as good as the museums in the big western European capitals. However, as a foreigner it was really hard to engage with this place. It starts with ancient history and this is mostly well set out, showing a progression of events with captions in English. However, the exhibition... More
