Kruja,Preza castle & Durres Tour from Tirana

7 reviews
 Our Tour is unique, because you will be acquainted and you will see the highlights of Kruja and Preza castle ,which were the center of the struggle against the Ottoman Empire in the 15th century, led by national hero Skanderberg. Today, the Kruja castle is home to the National Skanderberg Museum, remains of the Fatih Sultan Mehmed Mosque, an ethnographic museum, a Turkish bath and a reconstructed bazaar. It also offers scenic views of the surrounding area .After you will continue your tour to Durres. There we will enjoy, the beautiful beaches of Adriatik Sea , so you will create a complete idea of Albanian relief by strolling from the hills of Kruja to the coast of Durres. There we will walk along the beach boulevard, soaking up the fresh air of the Sea .After we will have a seafood lunch, in one of the best restaurants by the sea

Very cool museum just off the Square with great artifacts about Albania’s Communist era. Informative and interesting to learn about their deep history of suppression. Worth the visit!!!!

This bunker consists of 24 rooms, an apartment reserved for the Minister of Interior and a large hall dedicated to telecommunications. Like many other bunkers of this size, this one was built to withstand a possible chemical and nuclear attack. It contains three historical exhibits and three museum exhibits.

We were staying in Tirana and we visited BUNK’ART 2. Our whole family was engrossed in reading the exhibits. It took us over an hour to finish everything. We went end of October and when we were there, we saw only 2 other visitors. Highly recommend to get background on the country’s communist past.

Incredibly interesting, but moving, account of the cold war and how the communist dictatorship under Hoxha ruled the country and it's citizens. The museum tells the story of the oppression of the citizens and the methods used by the state police to spy, suppress, torture, murder and incarcerate those who they deemed enemies of the state. The museum is very detailed and overs an eye-opening experience of the terrible methods used. Be warned, it is often very, very sad but also very good that Albania is coming to terms with this history and telling the story of those who suffered. Entrance fee is very modest and the guides are pretty good for those who don't speak Albanian. recommended if you're in the centre as it easier to reach than Bunkart 1. Took myself and my partner around 90 minutes to tour as there is a fair amount of reading and visiuals but it is so detailed and moving you would not want to skip anything. Good covid precautions too. Take a mask .

We stopped by the BunkArt2, which is located towards the city center, nearby the mosque and large horseman statue. The entrance is just like going into a bunker. So much history there, not at the holocaust museum level, but somewhat similar according to their history. Well worth visiting.
