Be sure to ask your guides about the story of how the King selected the tomb's location - it's both tragic and hilarious! The place has a very solemn ambience with some fairly intricate animal statues. Worth a quick visit.

These tombs have been substantially renovated although they are worth seeing. The tomb of King Kongmin in Kaesong on the way to the Demilitarised Zone are in their original state and there is also a museum. Awesome!!

The best historical sites from the Koguryo dynasty such as the Tomb of the General are in present day China. This is the best site in the DPRK. It has fascinating wall paintings providing important insights into the Koguryo culture.
