Lido beach and it’s restaurants are where kids play soccer; Somalis swim and eat lobster.

You can laze away at lunch time, have a dip (covered up) and take in the atmosphere. You can almost forget you are in a dangerous city for a while.

Myself and my son Patrick went to explore this beautiful place! Very sandy! My son got sand in his crocs, and in my pants! He started crying because his Gameboy Advance got covered in sand! Sand, Sand, Sandy Sand! Safe, good food, lovely! I will come back with my other son Will!

As a tourist you are highly unlikely to get to this beach as Somalia is pretty shut off and its not recommended to go there even if you could get a flight. I only got there because of my job.
Don't swim in the sea it is full of sharks. One of our helicopter pilots decided to not heed the warning and he does now not fly anymore as we dragged him from the sea missing most of one leg. This not only ruined the BBQ but made a lot of people sick. He survived and is doing ok but wished he had listened to the warnings and not the little voice in his head that said ahh wont happen to me.

If I were not there, I would say that beach is not real !
First of all is spotless, there is not one piece of paper on the sand, then go to any beach in my Country and rubbish is up to your head.
There are lots of guys selling their daily catch , families gathering at weekends and they all leave the place spotless.
Beautiful to walk along just be careful of not going too far in the water, plenty of sharks

I visited roughly a year after the attack here. I could still see the bullet holes in the walls of the restaurant. It was still epic. If you get the chance, rent a boat and go into the ocean (not too far) as it was fun to play pirate for an hour or so. I also went swimming and a young Somali boy came out and swam with me. The beach was a bit dirty with kelp and stuff, but not that polluted with trash. Maybe a few pieces here and there. Look for the dudes with pet monkeys walking around.

In September? I and 3 friends had lunch the restaurant.
The food was fresh with very generous servings.
Good service, serene environment.
I recommend visitors to lunch there when it is most safe time.

There aren't a lot if good things to say about Mogadishu. The airport is a shakedown, the roads are atrocious but this beach is nice. The water is very choppy and you must watch out for sharks.

No go zone on Thursdays and Fridays, packed to the limit. Best time to go is on a Saturday from 8 to Midday. Clean and safe, and less crowded. Always take the floater jackets, 1 Dollar per person for unlimited time.No Lifeguards available at this beach so always be careful of the waves.
