Quiet place to collect your thoughts

Small church in the square, no entry fee. Simple but elegant. Architecture and furnishings were simple.

'Cathedral' may be a little grandiose for this plain church. It is frequented by locals, and is quiet. No a/c, and without a breeze, it is stuffy.

A very simple building, nothing grand about it. A beautiful statue of Our Lady as you enter the cathedral.

We were walking about the area one afternoon waiting for our hotel room to become available. I recall locals don't work on Sundays and go to church then so I wanted to see what their churches looked like so we wondered in here. It was simple, not too large, but quiet and beautiful. The walls have stained glass art on... More

A great experience to reflect and take in the peacefulness of the building and the wonderful things inside that make the Cathedral so special. Similar in some ways to the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris which is to be expected since French is the official language.

We visited shortly before Christmas, when decorations were being put up. As the oldest Catholic church on the island there is a lot of history here.

I love seeing Historical buildings, so was right up my alley. Right in the City not far from the markets, so easy to get to.

When I travel, I try my best to stop into a Catholic church to light a candle for my Grandmother. I was getting a van shuttle from my hotel to the ferry, and I asked my van driver if there was a Church close, thinking I would find some time on my way back to walk up and light my... More

Papeete in general is not really much. It's dirty, the sidewalks are uneven (be careful when walking) and all and all not much to see here. This church is in decent condition but really nothing spectacular and I wouldn't make a point of going but it's very close to the market and the presidents house if you want to stop... More
