Ok so the main market place where they sell all the fresh fruit and veg was very pleasant. On the down stairs was all the produce and you could get some meals of all types at a reasonable price. Upstairs were a lot of pearl shops and a good opportunity to have a look at all the different pearls before deciding to buy one. As far as we were concerned you just pick the pearl that you like regardless of colour etc. You'll know the one when you find it and might be surprised at the price. Some of the sales staff appeared to want to sell the biggest pearl not necessarily the right pearl, so maybe they get commission. We also went to Vaima shops and i would rant and rave over it, a few shops but nothing much and not really worth it. An an Aussie travelling and having been to many places, the main market is worth visiting as well as some of the surrounding street shops that sell all sorts of stuff.

The 'downtown' area of the City is an interesting spot for shopping. Shops tend to open late morning. Unique gifts. Good place to shop for pearls but you may be better off trying to find a trusting local to guide you on a pearl shop. MUST do is the food trucks that all come together in the evening! Inexpensive and delicious. Easy walking about with narrow side streets.
