Manapearl is a great place when you’re looking for beautiful pearls in Papeete. The colors of the pearls were really nice.
Thank you Thibaud for your kindness and your help in finding the perfect birthday gift for my friend. Would definitely come back!

Along Papeete’s prime waterfront retail you'll find a plethora of Tahitian Pearl dealers. Before you even *think* about browsing, consider taking the Manapearl tour!

Cruisers take note: Manapearl is an easy 5-10 min stroll from the cruise ship piers. We spent a delightful pre-cruise morning here.

Manapearl is a bit tricky to find, up one flight in the pleasant, open-air waterfront retail mall, the next building past (West of) the prominent Viama Center. For equipped techies, Manapearl’s GPS Coordinates: S 17.54027, W 149.56902.

Behind this unassuming door (see photo) awaits a fascinating, personalized free tour of Tahitian Pearl jewelry manufacturing. Enjoy the hospitality of entrepreneur Anapa Tauru, who graciously shares his decades of expertise. From sorting and grading the raw harvest from Manapearl’s proprietary pearl farms, through the production of finished product, learn what you need to know to help discern junk from highest quality.

You’ll also see Anapa’s current inventory of finished jewelry, and of course have the opportunity consider a purchase. There was absolutely no pressure to buy. Instead, the vibe was a justifiably-proud owner sharing his truly superior work product.

To set up your tour, email Anapa at anapatahiti@usa.net, or call him at +689 778314.

Shopping for pearls in Tahiti is overwhelming. The stores are on top of each other practically, with a huge range of prices making it hard to make a decision. I had found Manapearl online, which let me browse and think about what was on my wishlist over a couple months before my trip. The store is a little hard to find, and make sure they know you are coming to make sure they are open when you find it! Fare Tony is basically a mall, with stores all around the outside and open air hallways crossing thru the centre. Find the stairs and go up to level 2. If you end up in the parking garage, go right. And you should see the store front. The store is actually on the waterfront but you need to get in sort of from a back door. From the cruise ship you can see their banner in front of their store. So once you find it Anapa and his staff will have so many beautiful things you will have a hard time choosing! The pearls were even more beautiful in person. I bought a baroque spiralled pearl bracelet, a 5 strand cocolo style bracelet and a pendant. He gave me pearl cleaning cloths and Keshi rings as a gift. I wish I had longer to visit but we had to get back to the ship. I received many compliments on my jewellery and people were shocked to hear what a great deal I received. Manapearl will be my only pearl store stop if I return to Tahiti!

I found Manapearl by reading the recommendations on this site. And I am certainly glad we paid a visit there on our recent cruise. Anapa was a most gracious host, explaining how the pearls were farmed and offering advice and information without any hint of pushiness. His store is not the run-of-the-mill pearl shop. It is a manufacturing workshop where pearls are mounted on the premises. The array of shapes, colours and designs takes your breath away. There were so many beautiful pieces to choose from that we were there for about an hour. We came away with 2 exquisite baroque pearl necklaces for my daughters, 2 bracelets for my husband's daughters and he threw in free 4 Keshi rings for them and 1 for me, cleaning cloths and we received certificates of authenticity for everything.
Anapa advised against buying pearls in the market and showed us 6 huge barrels of reject pearls and told us that these are what they sell in the markets.
My daughters are absolutely over the moon with their pearls and I will certainly make a return visit when we are next in Tahiti.
I must say, my husband accompanied me rather reluctantly, but soon changed his mind and is a huge fan of Manapearl.
Anapa, if you read this, many thanks for your friendship and helpfulness and I hope we meet again.

My wife and I went to Tahiti for our 25th Wedding anniversary. Before the trip I reviewed online all the choices in pearl shops across the islands. After much research I decided to go to 3 shops. One of which was Manapearl.
I wrote Thibauld beforehand to tell him what I was looking for and he had everything laid out for us upon arrival.
If a fancy showroom and display cases is what your looking for, this “is not”the place for you.
If you want fantastic pearls in many forms at a great price this is the place to go. The service was top notch and the creative pieces were just what my wife was looking for in a pearl bracelet and earrings.
Thanks Thibauld!

Based on the reviews here on TripAdvisor, I checked out Manapearl's website, along with the websites of the other pearl shops reviewed here. I really liked Manapearl's designs and styles the best, since they are elegant and modern, not matronly. I also liked the fact that the price, color, size and quality are all listed for each item. This enabled me to decide on a pearl pendant before we even arrived in Tahiti and e-mail Manapearl to let them know I wanted to pick it up on arrival.
I received an e-mail confirmation and we showed up on our arrival day to purchase the pendant. There is no storefront; you just let them know you're coming, then ring the bell. We had completely personal service at Manapearl's office, first buying the pendant, then sorting through pearls to find two matching ones for earrings. The earrings were mounted while we were on our cruise, then we returned to Manapearl to pick them up at the end of the cruise.
Manapearl's founder retired recently, and his son Thibaud is now running the business. He was very gracious and went out of his way to help us make the most of our visit to Papeete. He not only speaks perfect English, but also speaks Spanish and Italian (maybe German, too? I forget). Be sure to contact him through the Manapearl website, as the e-mail address and phone number listed here on TripAdvisor may be his father's.
Thibaud gave us certificates of authenticity for the pearl jewelry we bought, as well as tax-free documents, which we had stamped at the "Douanes" office at Papeete airport.
In short, this was THE place to buy pearls if, like me, you hate shopping and get overwhelmed by stores. Great quality and value, personal service and a place to buy Tahitian pearl jewelry online next time I want some but can't afford another trip to Tahiti!

We came here twice for pearls not only because of the wide selection and quality of pearls and also because of the low prices and quality of service beyond what we can get in the states. Anapa helped is so much. We took more than 4 hours of his time to pick out an necklace and Anapa was so patient with us. Even after that we found out that our flight to another island was canceled due to a strike so we had no where to stay. Anapa called around town for is and asked for any available rooms. None were available so he offered his personal home for us and even offered to drive us to the airport the next day. We didn't want to inconvenience him so we booked AirBnB instead. Overall, we had a very good experience at Mana Pearl and ended up coming here twice!

Over the past five years, I have received nothing but beauty and happiness from Manapearl Tahiti. I just received my twelfth order from paradise, already looking forward to the next. In this particular order I received a spectacular, intricately detailed, sterling silver & pearl tiki pendant …. Additionally gifts are always included such as a beautiful keshi ring, a lovely Tahitian shell & beach sand from Rangiroa where the pearl farm is located, or an awesome Manapearl shell magnet.

I can’t speak highly enough of the beautiful craftsmanship, exceptional customer service and breathtakingly beautiful pearls I have received. The peacefulness and beauty of the Tahitian Spirit is evident in each one of Manapearl’s magnificent treasures, pearls in colors that are glowing and truly glorious to behold. There are so few “sure things” these days, but I can always depend on Manapearl for the very best, every time…. from paradise!

This is our second time visiting Tahiti and of course Manapearl. Their location in downtown Papeete is a bit hidden on the second floor of a shopping mall because they primarily sell online but they do take walk ins too. The first time my wife bought a beautiful white pearl necklace. During that visit, we got to know Anapa very well. In fact, Anapa remembered us from the first time we visited and was able to find our picture from more than 5 months ago. This time my wife and I wanted to buy a pearl necklace. We come to his store during our second visit. This time we carried our luggage with us which he allowed us to bring in. We spent about 4 hours with him, not only because we were picking out our pearls because we are very picky, but also because our Air Tahiti were having strikes. Anapa actually called to check for us and indeed, our flight for that day was canceled. Anapa even called all the hotels within the proximity to find us a room but they were all booked. Anapa even offered for us to stay at his home and drive us to the airport. We could not have been luckier. Anapa saved our vacation and sold us pearls. In addition, he offered to pick us up at the end of our trip from the airport so he bought us a sim card to make phone called in Tahiti. We didn't even ask for all this but I'm glad he did. Anapa not only saved our vacation but he and his associate were also very very patient as we took a long time picking out our pearls and asking them to bring out more options. I don't even think you would get this kind of personal service in the US without a smirk on the face. I bought a single pearl leather strap male necklace and my wife bought a beautiful single pearl multicolor greenish pink pearl pendant necklace. He sold them to us for a great price. We checked for prices at those Tahitian Pearl Market stores that are everywhere on the resorts and compared prices. Manapearl gave us a better price with excellent selection. We were very happy with our two experiences in person with Manapearl and Anapa. We would definitely do business with him again. Merci beaucoup Anapa! We hope to see you again.

Manapearl is a small shop upstairs in the Fare Tony shopping mall in Papeete. Nothing fancy, but the best selection and prices of any pearl shop I saw on six islands. Mr. Anapa is helpful and not pushy. I love my pearls.
