Terevau was fast and reliable during my trip from Tahiti to Moorea round trip. Just make sure if you are planning bring a rental car to Moorea from Tahiti, book in advance because the spots for cars are very limited. It’s very easy to follow. Download the tickets on your wallet pass and they’ll scan it as you enter the gates. Also if you’re bringing luggage make sure you put it together downstairs in Tahiti with others. You will see it. And pick it up as you exit after they bring out.

The Terevau ferries are consistently on time and an inexpensive way to get between islands -- for tourists and locals. Plenty of seating indoors (air conditioned) and never crowded. Snack bar that offers beer, coffee, sodas, and snacks. Able to go out on deck as well.

2 companies operate ferries to Moorea and they alternate their times so there's usually one going every 40 minutes or so. Because of our post-flight COVID testing, we weren't sure how long it would take so didn't buy tickets online from 1 operator or the other. You can walk right up to the ticket counter, its basically 90 seconds from getting out of the taxi to when you are sitting upstairs, ticket in hand, waiting to board.
Ferry took about 30 minutes. This one did not have outdoor seating, which was fine as it was raining that morning.

So easy! Walked up 20 or so minutes before the ferry left. Easy to buy a round trip ticket, handed off our larger suitcases, and climbed on board. Very smooth and fast ferry to Moorea in about 30 mins. A little chaos trying to get our luggage back on the trip back to Tahiti a few days later but it was also raining so everyone was trying to squeeze under awnings.

It was easy buying a ticket for this ferry, however a little confusing about how we got on it being our first time. There is a lovely restaurant/bar to wait in where you can watch them loading and unloading things to/from the islands. I would recommend going on here as we took the Aremiti back from Moorea and because you had to go higher up in it i felt a bit seasick as the sea was a bit rocky. The cafe in the Aremeiti is better though. Only takes 1/2 hour for the trip so you dont really need food.

We travelled both ways , to and from, Moorea from Papeete. As walk on passengers we were able to buy tickets half and hour before the boat left. There was a good cafe on board. We put our luggage into the cage at the start of the trip and safely collected it at the end.

OK ferry ride, no complaints about the ferry but they won’t honour their seniors ticket price unless you are a local which it doesn’t say when you are buying your tickets at the wicket. Their competitor does offer the 60+ ticket price to ALL people regardless of where they live! The girl in Papeete selling tickets at their wicket was less than friendly and could care less water you but a ticket or not!

Took the Terevau ferry from Papeete to Moorea. Found it very easy to buy a ticket at the ferry terminal. The baggage drop-off was a little sketchy, but our bags made it ok (pick up and drop off are on a "honors system" so to speak). The ferry itself was a bit worn, but acceptable. The ferry left right on time and arrived on time. Baggage delivery was prompt. We found it odd that there were no safety announcements on what to do in case of emergency. Also, the air conditioning wasn't very good and the seating area was hot!

Thank you for your comment and rating. The safety announcement was shown at the begining of the trip on TV screens.

Good experience getting to and from Moorea from Tahiti. Once we took the car over and the second time we just went as passengers. The ferry is nice and clean. The staff is friendly. I would take it again.
Only concern is the website does not work well to make a reservation. The terminal is not well marked as to where you are supposed to be. Once you find staff they are friendly.

Took the first ferry to and the last ferry from Moorea. Bought our tickets at the terminal with no fuss and walked to the departure area. The ferry was clean, airconditioned inside and had a nice snack bar that also sold alcohol. We spent the majority of the time to Moorea outside on the top deck. The views are compeling! Dont miss it.

Hi! My friend booked her ferry ride thru costco and she has a date and time for her ferry trip. I’m trying to book a ferry ride on the Terevau website but I don’t see an option to pick the exact date and time. I’m nervous if I just show up with a general ticket then I wont get on the same ferry as her. Any ideas on booking date and time for ferry?

Saludos

We would like to do some shopping also a little sightseeing in Papeete before taking Terevau to Moorea. Is it possible to store our baggage at the pier for a few hours?

I do not remember; if you email a hotel near by they may know. Everyone is friendly and helpful.

We are checking out of hotel around 0900 hours but not taking ferry at 1505. Can we store our luggage for 4 or 5 hours at the terminal?

I will be on a cruise ship going from Papeete to Moorea. Would this ferry give some different views or pertinent commentary, which I wouldn't get on a cruise ship, do you think? You may have noticed the route of the bigger ships while in Papeete. It sounds as if you did a roundtrip; does it run continuously so you just stay on board?

Ia Orana :) The ferry ride from Pape'ete to Mo'orea itself is only about half an hour. It will be open ocean, you won't be passing along a string of other islands or atolls along the way, so there wont really be necessity for guided commentary. I would simply use Terevau rather than something more extravagant. I do believe you may have to get off, rather than stay on for round trip, since the ferries are used primarily for transportational reasons rather than sight-seeing, given the distance is so short.

If we have pre-purchased ferry tickets through our travel agent, where do we pick up our tickets after getting off our cruise ship?
Written April 19, 2018
After purchasing ferry tickets, how long are they good for? Also, can we use the ferry tickets for any of the times the ferry leaves or is there a specific ferry departure time printed on the ticket? Also, are there taxis when we get to Moorea to take us to our hotel?
