We can highly recommend the 3 day 'Highland Escape' trip with Talanoa Treks. Our group hiked from Naga to Nubutautau (with shorter hiking circuits on either end), staying one night in each village. We were treated to beautiful scenery (and, an added bonus, blue skies all round), and a well-paced hike with plenty of swimming opportunities and snack breaks. As some of the first outside visitors since Fiji re-opened for tourism, we appreciated the warm welcome and hospitality received from the villages. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, and the food tasty (plenty of roti, rice, rourou, vegetable curries, pineapples, and other fresh fare from the gardens). We were glad to completely disconnect, with no phone coverage. The Talanoa Treks team provided excellent support along the way - pre-departure info and trip logistics were smooth, and the stories shared helped pass the time on the drives to/from Suva. Vinaka vakalevu! Tara + Phil.

We had been planning to undertake this hike for some time. However after watching ECO Challenge Fiji on Amazon Prime - we decided to book the trip and make the time. It was an awesome hike a fun one to do with friends. The village guides were awesome, very supportive, welcoming and helpful. The walk itself is absolutely stunning. As as Suva urbanite , we tend to gravitate to the beach but it was great to espace to the highlands. Both Naga and Nabutautau villages were welcoming and hospitable. Also Nabutautau was great as it is steeped in Fiji's history so we got a chance to get a sense of what it was like in the late 19th Century. Hiking was tough re the ROCKS but once you get your bearings it was all doable with good level of fitness. The scenary is stunning, grasslands, mountains, rivers and ROCKS !!! Great stuff

21.6km trek in amazing company and breath taking views throughout ! No amount of fancy camera gear or Bear Grylls video shooting can do justice. One really has to go there and take in the views. And experience it all !! Great company in the villages we stayed in and within the group, was great camaraderie. I went with my soon-to-be 17 year old daughter and we both had a blast. The teen was raving about it for days (and still, as I type this….). Was a lovely maman-daughter bonding time too. Great escape and for us who are from Fiji, to continue to value and appreciate the interior of the country more; and promote it widely. We are not just sun, surf and beaches. Thank you to the amazing Talanoa Treks team - we are looking forward to doing another trek soon. A must do when in Fiji !

I spent over a month in fiji and did sooo many things! THIS WAS BY FAR MY FAVORITE DAY! I did the day trip to nabalasere village and waterfall / caves. It was an unreal experience and from the moment I was picked up to the moment I was dropped off it was a positive experience! If you are visiting Fiji this trip is a MUST DO! It’s also sooo affordable!

The team were right on time, actually arrived early which was great. The vehicle was very comfortable and great for the bumpy ride. Our driver was fantastic and made us feel very safe. He was also very lovely to chat to and have a laugh which made the drive there and back very fun. The actual hike was fantastic. Etu completely exceeded my expectations of this trip. He was so friendly, knowledgeable and caring. Actually both guides were very understanding of pace and supportive, especially when coming down as it can be so slippery. I have been coming to Fiji since I was a little girl and this has just made me love Fiji more. I love hiking and I never knew such hiking really existed in Fiji. I also learnt so much from Etu about the surrounding and Fiji in general. The lunch was very delicious and enjoyed on the top. I will definitely be back for another trip soon and to complete Mt Tomanivvi or one of the other trips. Also your recommendation of staying Wananavu was much appreciated. The staff were soo friendly.
