Description:

Sculptured through the workings of wind, water and vegetation, the Sigatoka...

Sculptured through the workings of wind, water and vegetation, the Sigatoka Sand Dunes stand out as one of Fiji's most unique wonders. In 1989, 390 acres of the Sigatoka Sand Dunes was established as Fiji's first National Park- The Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park. A key contributor to its protection is the archaeological treasures buried beneath the dune sands. These artefacts have contributed to the history of man's first arrival in Fiji. Today, evidence of this past continue to be unearthed by the wind. The Park is home to a unique Dune forest which is now home to a myriad of wildlife. Some notable inhabitants of this forest include the Fijian Swallow tail Butterfly, the fruit bats, the Goshawks, the giant stick insects and cryptic Pacific Boa. The National Park is a Fijian heritage, rich in both natural and cultural attributes.

We came here last summer. It's a lot of fun. We did the long walk with two entertaining tour guides and they let us plant trees in the field. Apparently, there's a way to track your tree's growth online, but I can't figure out how to. Snacks are available for purchase in the visitor center. Try the ice cream!

Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park is the only national park in Fiji. I wanted to see it on my own, so I hired a taxi to take me there and wait. And wait he did - I was there for over 4 hours. There are places you can hear and (if you have binoculars) see birds - even though this... More

My husband and myself visited the sand dunes as part of another tour. We were so taken aback at how stunning they were! The rich culture and history that these dunes represented were explained so very well by our guide! Such a pretty place and very easy to walk around! Highly recommended you visit the dunes and help support the... More

We did the short walk <1 hour. It was fun. Very beautiful! Very friendly staff, he explained the walks very well. Very good signage - can't get lost. Clean bathrooms! Worth doing it. Only $10 for national park entry per person.

Went to the Dunes on a very hot day so decided to do the shorter hike. Still had very beautiful views. Make sure you bring a lot of sunscreen if you're planning on staying at the dunes for awhile! If you're a strong swimmer take a dip in the ocean, waves are strong but very fun to play in! Would... More

I did the 'cheaters' tour and visited the east most end of the park, where the dunes are smaller.. though still quite a climb to get to the top. Wonderful views and interesting place to visit while on the Coral Coast of Fiji.

This is amazing nature and such a beautiful setting! The Fijian national rugby team uses this area to train - and for good reason. It is a spectacular location and a challenging hike. If you were daring enough to run it like the national team does, it would certainly require the fitness of a professional athlete. To best enjoy it,... More

Can choose long or short walks. 2km or 5 km. We had a showery day off and on which was great for cooling. Variety of vegetation along the way was interesting. Pretty well signposted showing directions once on the track. Black sand can get very hot. Take sunscreen, hat and insect repellent. Recommend going.

This walk was a lot harder than expected so if you are not a fit person, do something else. We did the short walk which was an hour long and it was enough. It was interesting to see the landscape. Take lots of water and wear closed shoes if no cloud as the sand gets very hot. Staff member was... More

A great place to spend a couple of hours contemplating Fiji's past as well as enjoying impressive dunes and great bird life. Take lots of water.
