I would suggest that if your tourist to visit this place. Denarau island has all the major resorts, we stayed at the Westin which was great. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast. Top class. Lots to see at the marina. Good shops. Good tourist destination. I really liked the coconut. The supermarket at the marina were selling chilled coconuts for $2 while the roadside was $5 to $10 .

Make sure you work out the fare with the taxi driver before getting in the taxi - the fare will never be the same and often double for the same distance travelled.

We went to the Denarau beach adjacent to the Radisson Blu Resort and found it to be honestly pathetic compared to Oregon beaches so far as being a nice sandy beach. But is a man made beach reclaimed from mangrove swamps with dark gray sand which is often covered by water and sometimes provides a few feet of sand that can be walked on. It is clean but the water is cloudy and you see virtually nothing when snorkeling. I did see one mini Portuguese man of war that was about 3 inches long including two inch purple tentacles extending from a one inch translucent body. There are a fair amount of rocks and coral in the sand which can make swimming hazardous. The water temperature is great for swimming or wading and the view particularly at sunset is stunning but for swimming choose a hotel that has nice pools like the Radisson. Not recommended for swimming!

It's not a white sandy beach like in the glossy pamphlets. Probably more a bit muddy, dirty water (not turquoise), coral and rocky type of bottom. Can't swim until high tide as at low tide the tide goes way out. Stick to the pools at the resorts.

Denerau Beach is not what you come to fiji for.
It is an area when there used to be a mangrove swamp which has now been drained. For this reason there is no white sand or coral reefs which is what Fiji beaches are famous for. The water is not inviting since the sand is muddy. In order to see the real beautiful beaches you while staying on Denerau Island, you need to take a day trip by boat to one of the outer islands. The hotels and resorts on Denerau island are great and have nice swimming pools but hardly anyone goes into the ocean here.

My husband and I recently returned to New Zealand after a wonderful holiday in Fiji, and the highlight of our trip (by far) was the Oolala cruise operated by Storck Cruises. The pristine boat took us from Denerau Marina to uninhabited Savala Island - home to the clearest water and the most amazing coral reefs I have ever seen. We were very impressed. The crew were extremely friendly and helpful, the island was beautiful and the snorkling was fantastic. We will definitely take the cruise again next time we are in Fiji and have already recommended it to friends and family.

Denarau is about utilising resort facilties. The beach at Denarau isn't nice but in saying that Denarau is the perfect hub to go back and forth from your island day trips and other site seeing you wish to do. Its pretty much a village of resorts set up for tourists in one set location. All the hotels are set up along Denarua beach so you can either stroll or 'Bula bus' it from one hotel to the next. We stay at Wyndham as guests which we love as we can prepare our own meals. We get curry and roti parcels from the marina for $3fjd each and they're amazing!!!! My family and I were born in Fiji so we've always known this trick. Resort food is pricey outside of Wyndham (taxes are crazy high now so beware when using your credit card. Use your cash) We got charged 30%taxes on top of our meal at the Radisson. Wasn't a pleasant surprise.
If you want pretty beaches head out to the Mamanucas or even better the Yasawa islands! Enjoy your trip. Fiji is amazing 😁

Like someone said, there is no real beach(just reclaimed mud flats) you can only really swim in the resort pools. I knew this before we went, so it was not a shock or surprise to us. Great view though, and the resort pools are plenty enough to keep you happy. As someone said, if you want the clear sea water to swim in, you go out to the islands. Enjoy.

Awesome safe comfortable environment. No scum or annoying people here. Great bars, water views, wharf, shopping, resturants, tour desks. A bit pricey, but the best part of fiji we visited, although we didnt stay here, we were there every day. Definatly recommend Denerau for a holiday if you are going to fiji. Everywhere else is dodgy.
