Cheapest way to travel the Island
Aug 2021
Could not fault this, they do run on island time so be prepared to wait a couple more minutes for the bus,
If you get MR T as a driver he is as good as any tour guide, points of the best places to go and eat,
Recommend getting a 10 pass ticket if doing the bus often

Island time timetable and frequency - just go with the flow
Aug 2021
Very reasonably priced. You need to wave/flag the bus down. I wouldn't rely on it to get me to the airport on time but it is a great way to get from A to B (or B to A !) if you have time. I used the bus to get home from the cultural show. The driver was friendly and helpful.

What Do You Expect?
Feb 2020 • Couples
The bus got us from point A to point B - but was often late and at one point the bus drove right by us making us have to wait another hour for the next one. We expect it to be a bit slower paced but not the best transport option for convenience in Rarotonga.

Kia Orana, Thank you very much for your review. I thank you for using our bus service during this time. Unfortunately due to our losses from the effects of the COVID-19 we had no choice but to reduce our schedule. We are still running at a loss but we believe that the service is essential to workers and visitors hence our continuation of the public bus service albeit at a reduced level. We wish you and your famillies all the best during this pandemic. Safe Wishes.

Round the Island Counterclockwise
Mar 2020
A Very reasonable way to tour the Island. Driver was a great guy, very helpful. One drawback was the roads, a bit bumpy in spots, with minimal shocks on bus.

Kia Orana, Thank you for your review. Yes unfortunately our roads are not the best. They cause thousands of dollars of damages to our buses every year. The good news is that our government have already begun fixing our roads. We expect to have a much smoother ride when it is completed. Meitaki Maata Many Thanks,

Round the Island we go!
Feb 2020
We spent three weeks riding around the island and developed a rapport with the drivers. They do seem brusque at the beginning, but do warm up. We learned about their families and a bit about them. The schedule was a bit unpredictable due to road construction, but all in all it was good experience. The buses are pretty beat up, so only a 4-star rating.

Kia Orana, Thank you for your review. Yes the Road Works have caused havoc to our schedules. We apologise for the confusion and delays with the schedules. We are currently working on upgrading our Electronic Systems to include online real time schedules to provide for a more accurate schedule. The state of our roads cause thousands of dollars of damage to our buses every year. Hopefully when the roads are completed we can invest into some newer more comfortable buses. Meitaki Maata Best Regards,

Drivers quite rude
Mar 2020
The drivers are quite rude and weren't very helpful. There were road works so buses were all over the place with the schedule but there was no notice to let you know how late they were etc. There were 30 minute waits and sometimes only 15minute which meant you were likely to stand around for ages or miss it all together. After a couple of days we couldn't do it anymore and got a car. Wouldn't recommend using them.

Kia Orana Thank you for your review. I apologise for your experience. Unfortunately we have no control of the road works as it has caused havoc to our schedules. We are working on upgrading our electronic systems to feature an online real time schedule for future that should provide for more accurate timing. We do ask that all passengers report driver behaviour to us so they can be reviewed through our onboard CCTV System. It is best that we see what is going on so that we can improve these areas. Meitaki Maata Best Regards,

Terrible disgustingly rude drivers
Mar 2019 • Family
I have never met anyone as rude as these drivers, one trip with them was enough to reconsider ever coming to visiting again.

Pro-tip:
When you get on the bus, greet the driver with Kia Orana! We’d like to go to and then say your spot. They love when visitors use their salutations. Every driver we greeted we noticed they were instantly friendlier with the Kia Orana greeting. Not to say they weren’t friendly if you said hi, they were still friendly, just a little more friendly if that makes sense at all. Make sure to say mei taki on your way off the bus!

We used the bus to get all around Raro. There are two buses one runs clockwise and the other runs counter clockwise.

During the main parts of the day you won’t have to wait more than a half hour to see a bus running one way or the other. Just catch whatever is convenient to you.

There are designated spots, but if you find a space big enough for the bus to pull over, just wave and they will stop and get you. Try to get to the bus stop, but if not, no big deal. Take a photo of the bus schedule and note that things run on island time. We found that the bus was typically 10 mins behind the week we were there.
